Back on Saddle
Originally posted by flyingJian View PostGuys gone for a long trip and when returning back came to know that my bike's heart is slowly and slowly dying.
Went to a long 1200+ kms hill trip and while returning heard weired metal crankling sound from the engine. It was late at night and still had to cover 300 kms to reach home. Looked for a doctor to show her but all in vain.
So ride her back to home with fear in heart that she can give up anytime in the middle of long lone highway
but she didnt. Reached home and shown to a mech, he said there is no Engine oil and the bike is running completely dry and can seize anytime.
The first thing came in mind WTF
, howcome this happened. It was 2k kms since last engine oil change or the TVS SVC didn't put any engine oil after gear bearing work.
I felt like for all these 2k kms i was slow posioning her.
I was such a fool that neither bothered to check the engine oil in the whole trip even once
.
I was riding her hard all this time and she never shown a sign of her sufferings.
Took her today to TVS SVC, was so pissed off that i would have hit hard the mech who have worked on her last time.
Somehow controlled.
The mech there checked the exhaust and found thick carbon deposits in the exhaust and said, all the engine oil might have burnt along with fuel.
I told them that i got done all bike services from there SVC and they should have checked the things and they again started giving there lame excuses like it happens with time and all those bu**s**t.
Later they said Cylinder kit need to be changed(which will be under warranty) but i have to wait for some 15+ days, as like always, the things are not in Stock
.
I am still waiting for replacement of rear left shocker which is even after 10 days waiting not in stock.
They dont even keep the bare minimum requirement parts
Now i have to again go through the tiring process of running
For the time being they are going to put engine oil and suggested me to ride less and keep a check on engine oil level.
Guys is there anything else or any other part could have damaged badly along with the cylinder kit which i could get replaced?
The only thing which is positive here is because of my regular servicing, dont have to pay for the parts but have to pay for the labour only.
It seems to me as a never ending iterations with the SVC.
Hoping for good and lets see what comes up next.
PS: Guys keep a check of the thick carbon deposit inside the exhaust as the above can happen with anybody who is getting bike serviced from SVC.Originally posted by rocker View PostSame problem as mine friend. My bike was also out of engine oil after just 300 km ride in two days. Adjusting the timing chain and setting the tappet clearence didn't work for me. Its feeling like my baby is out of its breath, very harsh and viby ride with no sign of RTR pickup. The engine oil was very low and black when checked after those two 100 km shots. But now I got an idea that its relly a big deal not just a small prob. Update me as well when and what you are going to do to get the things again on road. It will give me a real support if you will share the progress of work with me.
By the way thanks for replying, those replys were really" Universal Truths".Originally posted by nox2505 View Post@rocker & FLying Jian:
There are 2 reasons for engine oil getting in combustion chamber:
1. Blown valve oil seal
2. Damaged piston rings.
As PSR said, If you have run the bike without oil, do check the crankshaft bearings for sure.
Also, find the path of oil and sort the issue. Get ports cleaned and valves lapped. This should be accompanied with valve oil seal change.
As both of you have bikes under warranty, get it done from SVC under warranty. If they are not ready for that, talk to area service manager regarding this.
Guys i got my bike back in healthy condition by hard way.
As lijok did, i had to shoot a mail the higher official to get things moving. And the things happened so swiftly that in two days I am back on saddle with most of the things fixed.
As in lijok case the cylinder kit and crankshaft both got damaged but in my case it was only Cylinder it. I was present in the SVC for the first part of work that is opening the damaged cylinder but was not able for later part of fixation of new kit.
And in my case piston rings were culprit.
I did saw the signs of same when i got the bike's pollution checked and the CO level was somewhere around 2.5 from earlier .9 but thought will get her checked in the next service and before that all this happened.
My ignorance cost me 12 days of wait to ride her back.
The service engineer was present most of the time while the mech was working on bike.
Had a word regarding any upcoming TVS biggies but he simply refused that there are any in the pipeline at least for this year but he did say abt the ABS version of 180 and it gonna cost somewhere around 8k more but it wont be a direct fit to existing 180's , told there are some minor chassis changes like mountings and all.
I am not gonna easy runnin her for 1k kms, instead did hard running for some 30 kms by motoman runnin way, lets see how it comes up.
Guys if the SVC guys are pissing you all off, shoot a direct mail to all the TVS biggies and you will be surprised by the instant response of TVS officials.
Thank you all for your help and Happy and safe Ripping

Hi Guys... Do your bikes rev freely till 12k rpm??? I mean, does it hiccup somewhere around 10-11k rpm??? even in neutral or in gear??
Its been quite a long time since my needle saw 12k on the tacho.. The engine just hiccups at 10k... Even in 5th gear... As a result, my top speed is restricted to 115-120 kph... Or at most 121 sometimes on downhills... Beyond that, The bike just behaves like there is clutch slip... If you understand... I don not know how to describe it better... My bike has seen 134 kph on the Odo before...
I just had the clutch plates replaced and a revised Tci unit put in...(3rd iteration of the Tci)... But there seems no improvement...
BTW, my bike s done 20k kms and the Carb Tuning seems perfect otherwise, IMHO...

You are running a rich mixture. You need to tune the carb to make the mixture leaner.Originally posted by khush View Postlast friday again bike refused to start....went 2 lokal mechanic..he told spark plug is d culprit ...changed it....4 spark plug in 4 mnths!!!!!!!!!!!!!

^^^ think its lean , try turning 1/2 a turn anti clock wise ,
check if you are at the correct sppeds first , like you should be in 2nd gear if you are dropping to 15kmph while in a higher gearsite:xbhp.com keyword -> Google this to dig up stuff in xbhp faster
