Well, both the Castrol Power1 and the Motul are good. But I would recommend you go for the Castrol Power1 for the smoother gearshift. Right now I have Motul and it flawlessly reaches 100 without hiccups but the gearshift is not as good as when I had the Castrol Power1.
Since you are still in the third service, it would be better if you use a semi synthetic one. Motul 15W50 is the only available oil as of now in the semi synthetic category. They have stopped producing 10w40, I think.

Castrol Power1 is available for Rs.290 while Motul is priced at 400 - 500 range.

      • Guys, I just changed my rear disc pad recently. Off lately, I hear a kind of "kee keee keee" noise, like when you get when you rub your sports shoe against polished floors. (pardon the wordings. ).

What is this noise? I went to the SVC and the fellow cleaned the disc pads and air bled it. () It stopped for a while but resumed. I have noticed that it comes whenever I apply the rear brakes or gently place my foot on the brake pedal.

        Please enlighten me.

I found PSD is best of them .
What s the drop in mileage if i use 110/90-18 PSD ? any idea ?

I think PSD is quite heavy . So you will need to compromise little on fuel efficiency ... may be 5km .. The acceleration also will get affected to some extent.
I would suggest Zap Q 100/90. I have Zap Q 110/90, because 100/90 was not available at that time . Zap Q does the job nicely.

Hmm i get this sound after getting serviced coz in service they will polish the discs , the sharpness in braking will be lost and i used to get a squeaky sound , but this will dis appear after riding for 100km , did you get your bike serviced recently ? check for disc pads i mean it may be worn out and some metal is touching the discs , just inspect the disc you will get to know if this is the case .

I had the same issue..just cleaned the disc pad with good cloth and the sound faded, though it might come back again ..it happens when heavy dust particles are there between the disc and the clamp...need to apply high pressure air to remove that...it can be done in any workshops which do bike washing services..

                        • Hi guys! I own an apache RTR Fi, i want to know when should the air filter be changed??? my bike has clocked 17.5k kms.
For the past few days i am facing a problem with the self start and acceleration post 6kRPM.

1 Self Start- self start works occasionally and sometimes when i thumb the starter the bike does not strat and only a clicking sound is heard and the neutral indicator becomes dim for the time the starter is pressed. I feel it might be a case of a loose wire but the svc says that the battery has become weak and i might need to replace it in the near future. is the battery the culprit here?? plz give ur suggestion.

2 Acceleration post 6k rpm- this problem also occurs occasionally. sometimes when i take the bike over 6k rpm the bike takes ages to reach 7k rpm and gives lot of jerks. The svc says that i might need to change the fuel filter. it was earlier changed at 11k kms. plz give ur opinion on this prob

I f the battery needs to be changed then which battery shud i go for?? What will be the approximate cost??

Hmmm. Also when I slightly place my foot over the rear brake lever, there is a louder squeaking noise. Is anything else rubbing against each other?

                            • even i get those 'kee, kee' noises from the front disk plate....the head mech at Innovative TVS (mumbai) scraped the surface of the plate with sand paper.
Ever since the noise has vanisehd but the braking power has reduced to almost half

Also, i have had an oil leakage (its probably the banjo bolt near the oil reservoir cap). After 3-4 attempts the guys at the svc centre arent able to stop the leak. What should i do? Julian Paul took a look at it and zeroed in on the aluminium washers that are supposed to seal the leak but those buggers dont even have that to replace the old ones...

i have attached a pic of the source of the leak

P.S. @ abhiwar, was the yellow RTR with number printed on the visor yours? it also had leh-ladakh 2010 written besides it when i had seen it. when i was tehre, the mech was replacing your valves

                              • Hmm ... I am planning to take it tomo (again) to the Ramkay SVC here in Chennai. Noise is really sickening.
