Hold the Wheel/tyre at two opposite end and try to tilt it. if there is a ply, then it has started to wear out. You'll find the handling funny too!

A video and an image would be very helpful.

The handling will be real awkward (will be noticeable). The rear portion of the vehicle will tend to move slightly towards the right/left.

          • I am posting after a long time here.

I need some info on changing the rear suspension and swing arm to the Unicorns monoshock and swingarm. Any pointers to such existing mods??

            cheers!

Put your bike on main stand. turn on the engine and engage the bike to 2nd or 3rd gear....
Let the wheel rotate with the chain. Use of WD40 or Zorrik can be done to clean the chain...when its rotating apply one of them directly on the chain...let the wheel spin too...
2 to 3 full CHAIN rotations of WD40 or Zorrik will clean it properly....you can see dirt and muck dripping through your main stand onto your floor...this is a good sign (your chain is getting cleaned)....now when this is done....Your chain is completely cleaned!!!! you can even see it shining
                  P.S.
If the dirt is too much then you might need to spray for 4-6 rotations of the chain...

Now its time to lube it...use of Motul Chain Lube - 480Rs-500ml, OKS Chain Spray - 240Rs-500ml, Diamond Chain spray 100Rs - 100ml(very small can) or TVS Chain Spray 295rs - 500ml can be done...
The logic is same...just the way you sprayed the WD40 can the same way you need to lube it...After lubing keep it fr drying (need not under the sun)...You might need to wipe of the excess on your tires which might pose a problem (happens cz of spraying when wheel in motion)...

Now your bike is cleaned and lubed

WARNING-Keep hands away all times from spinning wheel and gear sprocket,
Clean excessive oil and cleaner from rims and tires as you might slip and fall when taking turns......

DO this procedure twice in one month....
If you have closed chain circuit and then remove the chain cover and do the needful.

Also You can brush your chain if required after applying WD40...just before lubing..

                  Hope this solves your query!

Lastly...dont ever....i repeat dont ever Only use WD40 and then take the bike for spin...WD40 is a cleaner and not a lubing fluid....Your chain might snap due to excess pressure...Always keep this in mind buddy..
                      WD40+Chain lube =
                      only WD40 =

No doubt only WD40 will give one a tough time.. And this cleaning process becomes a costly affair. Does that one small can be sufficient enough for one time use? Also do we have to finish off WD40 at once? O.o

The small can is 100ml only...max twice or thrice it can do wonders..after that it is a good air gun target material....
Its not costly...if you buy motul then its of no use cz its 480rs...i say buy a can of OKS chain spray cost around 230 or 240 and a can of WD40 for 230rs comes out around 500 which is good compared to only 480 of motul...
You do get motul chain clean but thats again 495rs.(total Waste)

                            Motul + WD40 = 480+230=710
                            OKS + WD40 = 230+230=460 Only
Motul Clean + Motul Lube = 480+495= 975 (Holy Cow)

You can use these half liter each cans for 6months....pretty decent man!!! use it wisely...May be you can apply them after you get your bike washed..in short your chain will be clean by the force of water (it will reduce spraying of wd40) once washed then clean and lube it immediately...

One time use of that small can will only last for 300 to 500kms max and depending on day's temperature too...Water and heat will reduce its performance big time!!!!

No the wd40 is 500ml... as adviced 2 or 3 chain rotations is enough man.

My wd40 can lasts for 6 to 8 months aramse....that also twice a month application!!!

                              correct! :-)
I'll do that regularly during Monsoon but before that I'll have to apply WD40 on the screws of the Chain cover because its stuck badly, so can't open them..

                              • RTR 160 - Notchy gear

My RTR 160 has done about 10000KM now.
The two things I did not like about the bike were the gear shifts and the tyre.
I switched to Zapper Q 110-90 after 7.5K. Tyre problem solved, but gear shifts are not smooth at all, especially down shifts. I was thinking of switching to a fully synth oil.
                                Maybe Motul 300V.
Could some one point me to a motul dealer in Bangalore.
Also if someone could give me directions to a good garage (near MG road or marathahalli) I would be really happy.(I feel TVS service is below par).
