The reason behind replacing carburetor is that the slide was not seating in properly in the carb slide cylinder. Cylinder had uneven surface wear and because of which the needle broke apart from its top ring.

I tried to replace it with new slide set (includes diaphragm and needle) but the new needle also gave up. See the pics below:

Since the problem is with the carb cylinder, the entire assembly had to be replaced. The engine is running better after replacing the carburetor.

I have a peculiar problem with my bike ever since I bought it 2 years back. It was there with the old carb and still exists with the new carb.

The engine runs smooth and pulls neatly sometimes(once in a while) and sometimes (most of the time) it is rough and feels like not enough fuel is supplied to engine.

The bike has run for 48000 kms running on 20W 40 grade engine oil and I am using NGK G-power spark plug and the AFR screw is at 3.5 turns.

Looking at the spark plug, i can see a dry black soot deposit on it. The deposit says that its running rich but the performance is not up to the mark and bike struggles to rev up.

I suspect that the spark plug is not getting enough ignition voltage because of which the fuel is not burning completely. Has anyone faced this kind of a problem?.
Is it because of 1) Faulty Ignition Coil (or)
2) Faulty Spark plug cable (or)
3) Faulty CDI. (Or)
4) Compression loss

I request the seniors to please advice on this issue.
Sir your help needed.

Just get a regular 4700uf 50v capacitor, available for around 50/-

Procedure is more or less like this;

DIY: Motorcycle Battery Eliminator

Confused[emoji849][emoji849] .The reflector is already dull .

Damage to reflector is negligible considering the benefits you get out of higher watt bulb. Simply plonk in 55/60w halogen n ride with peace.

Battery will not die, don't worry.

psr sir has provided detailed information regarding ZMA's TPS in this thread do run a search to find the same.

A consistent 30+ kmpl under all conditions is a decent figure for a quarter liter, IMHO.

Your pilot circuit is running lean(confirm with spark plug read) or your choke cable has snapped(if there's absolutely no effect on RPM when the choke is activated).

It is unlikely for the pilot circuit to run lean on a stock motorcycle so inspect for leaks using WD40 test, if all is fine then make sure that AFR is set right.

Bajaj's are ideally tuned lean and even then both my motorcycles die when the choke is activated after the motorcycle has covered a few km's after being idle overnight, AFR screw hasn't been touched since purchase.
thank you so much! will go through all of them!

Any adverse effects on engine/CDI if TPS cable is disconnected? Can I keep using P220's carb for few more days? (I have already paid 2.5k for that)

how's the p220 carb ?

About compatibility I didn't see any socket where I could connect TPS cable.

Its been few hundred kms since I am on P220's carb. Acceleration is decent my friend who is on Karizma's carb says acceleration is nice.
Bike goes till 120kmph without much efforts. I am getting fuel economy of 30kmpl approx.

What lifter ? this engine doesn't employ a hydraulic lifter for the valves.
What you probably need is to get the valve clearances adjusted to spec and maybe have the cam chain & tensioner parts inspected/replaced if required.
