  • Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates

I like this para, so true.

The same is true in other walks of life. Objects which are absolutely perfect and without flaw soon lose their charm, people preferring instead something which is a little quirky. The race-focused power delivery of a Ducati, the weird looks and odd power delivery of a BMW, the astonishing handling but uncertain reliability of an Aprilia, all these are judged to have character, and cherished for precisely that quality. Meanwhile, a Honda which works flawlessly out of the blocks is deemed to be bland. The most famous picture of a woman is not a photoshopped picture of a supermodel, with all of the flaws removed; it is of a slightly overweight woman with an enigmatic smile on her face.

Finally official confirmation. Suzuki sent out a press release announcing they won't be back until 2015. Brivio is manager…

It's still going on and Suzuki tends to be impressive, De Puniet shows 1.512 sec off 1st place

Suzuki's butt looks like that of race-spec Fireblade. I love this design (More than classic surfboard-like M1's rear - fugly!)

Damn, Suzuki posted 0.772 slower lap time than Jorge. That's amazing for a first outing with the GP machines :P

Looks like a potent machine already! Why do they need to develop further more?!

Great to see Suzuki being competitive , but why wait till 2015 ? Cal would have been a great rider for the team if they came back in 2014, as he seems to feel bottled up at Yamaha . He's also expressed his desire for a factory ride a few times .

The big question is, of course, if De Puniet was so fast on the bike, why are Suzuki waiting until 2015 to make a return to the series?

The reason that restricts Suzuki is the control ecu. Factory teams are free to develop their own ecu with a only 20 ltr fuel from next year. For Suzuki at the moment this is a big task. 120km with 20 ltr, that too in racing, is a huge task.
I'm sure yamaha is going to struggle next year who are still facing issues managing fuel consumption by race end. Currently they're using 21ltr. Next year they have to do the same thing in 20.
Suzuki say they need a lot if time and testing to actually develop a competitive bike with that ecu, and still be able to compete for victories. That's why waiting for another year.

It's too early to assess the riders piloting Suzuki in 2015. There 'll be too many changes and the pieces 'll fall in place only in the second half/third quarter of the next season.

So Honda have already started their 2014 campaign alongside the 2013 one. Here's the RC213V for 2014. (more or less)

the one in repsol colors are from this year. Just posted for comparison. Biggest difference I noted was with the front air intake. Can't see the partition in the middle anymore.
And look at the difference in carbon brakes..amazing.
