Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
It has not been possible to use all the power so far at Rio Hondo it seems, the track surface didnt allow it. That, and the soft tire, can explain Suzukis exploit (their handling is excellent and Aleix is very good on single fast laps). As more rubber is put down, and it becomes possible to use more bhps, expect Honda, Yamaha and Ducati to improve. For the race it will all depend on the tires and there Suzuki and Ducati may miss the hardest choice. I expect another MM93 win, with the Yamahas in tow.::J4RN0::

MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
Who better than Rossi to teach Marc that sometimes something is better than nothing. There was no chance Marc could stick with Rossi on hard tyres. Rossi said throughout the weekend that their choice was extra hard and we will make it work. While Marc changed his choice on the starting grid from the yellow to red tyres.
This is the year. One more title !!!!
That that last corner pass from cal was out of this world. Happy for cal to finally get results that he deserves.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
good ride by rossi again, intelligent use of extra hard tyre...marc's choice of the normal hard was questionable from the beginning as to whether he could run the race distance with just the normal hard on a track that was known to be brutal on rear tyres from last year's experience..gambling like that doesnt always pay.
god knows what went wrong with lorenzo or his bike this time...
i am just having a hard time figuring out why rossi glanced back at marquez just moments before the "incident"..i hadn't noticed his slight tilt of head back towards marquez during the race, but now i watched the incident's replay several times to make sure and from the helicopter's camera angle as well as the third camera angle seeing them at their front face (approaching that corner) it's clear he looked back at marquez just a few moments before what looked (from these camera angles) like a bit abrupt swerve from him..
no i am not necessarily insinuating anything (not yet, anyway)...he may have looked back just as a reflex to being rubbed by marc's front tyre..but then that somewhat sudden swerve out of his normal line (at which point marc clipped his front from rossi's rear) into the corner entering relatively more widely certainly makes it look a bit questionable...the incident's cause is made even more complicated by the fact that marc seemed loose (more than usual) and not so much in control in that part of the race..

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
I knew that the reaction from Rossi was the basis of the investigation in the first place. But as everyone knows, it was just a reflex. At the exit of turn 5, Rossi had the racing line, Marcquez as usual tried to force his way through and tried to push Rossi out. Just like he had done with Bautista at Qatar and numerous times with Jorge in last couple of years. Jorge had always been sensible enough to not risk either's safety and keep a distance. Rossi's look can also be considered as a check on Marc as he wasn't as close to him when Rossi looked back, but as Rossi was about the take the turn and move right, bang!! Marc got into the position and took the hit. The pic below is after Rossi's glance when Marc started charging in. Marc was definitely not there when Rossi looked back, but he closed in at the wrong time. Since, these guys don't use rear view mirrors or anything, it can't be considered intentional.
Marquez would still be in the fight had he backed off a little after the contact, but he felt that he had a chance when Rossi glanced back. Rossi had never thought of giving his position back after having that pace, unfortunately so did Marc (but he never had that pace in the rubber).
“When Marc decided on the hard tyre I think we have a small chance to win, because in the second half of the race I have a good pace," Rossi said.
“It is a shame that he crashed, but for me I think he did a mistake,” Rossi declared. “Marc is a rider that always bets all-or-nothing.
“Also our bike was better when the rear start to slide and Marc kept getting bigger and bigger in front of me.
“I arrived to Marc and had six or seven tenths of advantage in the pace, but just two laps to go. So I tried to overtake him, but I think 'for sure now Marc will try something to stay in front'.
"But as soon I thought about that, already he touched me in the centre of the corner. He put the bike into me and I say, 'F**k! Straight away. I think you are aggressive but I don't expect so much!'
“Then when I opened the throttle to accelerate, because I want to take a small advantage before the next braking, I hear another touch. But sincerely I don't know if it was on the right or left. So I think 'maybe this [battle] will be very strong!'
“But after when I passed to the line I saw on the pit board I had an advantage over Dovi, so I think something happened and the next lap I saw his bike.
"Marc knew if I overtook him I was a little bit faster so he tried everything, but maybe a little bit too much I think."
Comment from motomatters:
The World Champion and Austin race-winner refused to to go easy. Rossi passed the Honda and Marquez lunged inside bumping Rossi. Rossi again passed Marquez and got half a bike length in front when Marquez aggressively darted into to Rossi's bike. His front wheel thumped the right rear of Rossi's M1, immediately dropping Marquez's Honda to the track. Both the bike and rider slid off and an obviously agitated Marquez chased down his Honda but it was too damaged to rejoin the race.
Hopefully the above statement puts all doubts to rest. But to each on his own.
The only thing that surprised me about the "incident" is that Marquez wasn't sanctioned. Rossi put in a hard but fair pass, Marquez touched him once and then flat out rammed him on the exit. When another rider is taking >0.5 seconds / lap out of you - news flash - you won't be able to hold them off, and potentially destroying two races (and possibly racers) is not a good solution. This is the 2nd time this season Marquez has tried to play demolition derby on a MotoGP bike (remembering Qatar) when he hasn't had the pace to win.
For me the race was decided when Marc asked to change the tyres. There was no way a rider like Marc would have been able to stay up to his pace with the hard compounds. But thought abut running away with it and maintaining the gap. He didn't consider either of the Yamaha's a threat. Marc still lacks the maturity to control a race. Riders like Dani, Vale and Jorge are way more mature than him. Though he has the dexterity, but not the maturity. The fact is you cannot win every race and even after 2 years in MotoGP his age has not let him learn this.
I expect Jorge to come back strong and beat Marc, just like Vale. At least he's still managing to gather whatever he can from the races before he starts his own charge at the top spot.Last edited by R-series; 04-20-2015, 06:10 AM.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
MM was a little more enthusiastic than he should've been. He is a too aggressive rider. This quality has its pluses and minuses. The negative side showed here. Hope he recovers well. And VR is again riding like a 25 year old!A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
My 2 cents; there was a reason why Honda riders, MM and Cal didn't opt for the super hard rear like Rossi. They did not have the corner grip like the Yamaha with the super hard tyres. Cal's insight into choice of rubber is interesting read.
“Valentino and Yamaha were stronger all weekend with the extra-hard tyre. We knew that to be competitive with them we had to use the softer tyre because corner entry is vital for us. If we lose that grip we really struggle and the extra-hard never had the grip - with our bike - from the start
And, Rossi's response to yesterday's incident made my day. Rossi reminded me of his youger days. start from 3rd or 4th row, and carve your way up to the podium. What a befitting reply to Marc Marquez yesterday.
“I don't think a rider like Marc is scared about this or a bad result can modify his attitude," he said. "The important things is that we demonstrated, also to him, that in the race we can be very strong. Because he is fantastic to do the pole position. But he knows, and we have demonstrated this season, that we will be there in the races."
Cant wait for the fireworks to begin at Spain on 3rd May.

Re: MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates
apart from the mayhem at the front, things I would like to point out.
1. Cal look unsettled many time on the bike and made more than one mistake to lose a position every time it happened. It could be what @chinmayakar said about the corner grip with hondas. But he was able to ride it fast and confidently to take that impressive sneak through the inside.
2. For me, Dovi rode a better race than Marc. He was able to stick with Rossi most of the time while the #46 was trying to chase down the champ. His sensible riding actually rewarded him his 2nd place.
3. Rossi although didn't make it to the top 3 in any session, on Saturday they knew they would be there when the lights go out.
Matteo Flamigni (Valentino Rossi's data Engineer) speaking with the 9-times World Champion.
"When we decided for the extra-hard tyre, on Saturday evening, I told him: "tomorrow you win". I went a bit too far then, but finally I've been proved right"

4. Oh yes, and Fenati's actions in warm up :P Seriously acting like a 6 year old fighting for his toy.
5. Zarco's backflip off the tyre wall was the best thing for me before MotoGP. When he was climbing the wall, I though he just wanted a higher position to see the fans, But doing that backflip in leathers, boot, helmet and gloves was amazing.
I've just downloaded the race and pre-race video of the race. Ten sports' inside track clearly is a bore when motogp pit scenes are available in the back ground. The guy definitely doesn't know much and keeps improving his own knowledge by asking the lady. She on the other hand has a lot of valuable knowledge about the sport and the whole weekend.
