However, Dovi is really strong now. He might as well break the barrier between Rossi & MM93 by coming in between them this season. The way he was clinging onto Rossi leaving Cal way behind in Argentina shows he has immense potential. But, he cracks under pressure though as evident during his Tech3 days unlike Rossi & MM93. Bradley Smith is another rider who is doing well this season. He only fades as the race goes on. What is the reason for this. He clings onto Rossi (on the same Yamaha) till 8-9 laps, then fades away even when he & Rossi are on the same tyres. Is it due to lack of concentration. Why is that?? @J4rn0

Sic was kind of a giant among the motorcycle GP jockeys, even taller than Rossi (who is 6 feet + but thin). This notwithstanding he was capable to win even in 125, and of course in 250 where he did very well, still with "only" 120 bhp his weight was a disadvantage; finally in MotoGP he had power to burn and his weight wasn't a real handicap (if not for fuel consumption) any more and he was doing better and better until his untimely end.

I see Dovi really well this year, his speed and consistency on the new Duc might pay dividends in the end especially if MM93 and VR46 at the front push each other into mistakes.

Crutchlow had such a sudden boost in performance recently -- I think after Pedrosa'a problems Honda quietly gave him the real factory kit. They could not put him on Pedrosa'a bike because of sponsors incompatibility (Cal is a Monster rider, HRC is Red Bull), but they can give LCR the good parts for him. I'm convinced he's riding a full spec factory bike now.

Smith is doing well. His Yamaha is last year's model I believe, which means it doesn't have the seamless gearbox yet. But that's only part of the reason why he can't keep Rossi's (or Lorenzo's) pace for the entire race: all those MotoGP riders can be fast for one lap, or a few laps, with a good bike; but managing the entire race is where the rider's talent and experience and also the skill of his team and crew chief come into full play. So many things to tune, and everything got to be near perfect to keep a fast pace until the last lap of the race and end on the podium. As you rightly say it takes also a lot of mental concentration. And stamina, because to be a real contender one has to repeat the same process almost perfectly, for most of 18 weekends aroun d the world...

Thinking that Rossi is in his 20th year of this circus and still going strong, is what really amazes me about that guy.

Some interesting facts about VR46 this year:
Rossi's last three MotoGP wins (Phillip Island last year, Qatar and Argentina this year) have all been achieved from eighth on the grid - but the most surprising statistic is that Rossi has only led across the line for a total of four laps in 2015.

The other riders who have led races year are: Marc Marquez - 40 laps, Jorge Lorenzo - 15 laps, Andrea Dovizioso - 9 laps.

Does it mean that Rossi has been improving all along from last year to this year. Also, the improvements that Yamaha has brought to the seamless gearbox from last year seems to be doing its part for the race distance.

I feel Marc won't be able to fight for the win, atleast not with Jorge in such form. Because of the pain in the finger. Tyre choice again will crucial. Jorge will definitely try to run away attack the front. the Ducatis have good pace and might just be able to fight for 2nd n 3rd unless something unusual happens at the front. Irrespective of the pace in FPs, race is always a different story and I hope it comes out to be another great weekend.

Jorge was the only person not to lose time in the 4th sector. It will be 99 all the way, though VR46 can give tough fight

News update: Marc's engine that had a problem in Austin during qualifying is withdrawn. It cannot be used again. Now he's one engine down on the Yamaha's.

well that was a predictable (and thus relatively boring, as in lacking in close race at any moment) race. great ride by lorenzo all weekend. hopefully this is his comeback to form and he continues it in future so that we can have an exciting 3 way fight for the championship till the end (one can only wish).

good ride and damage limitation by marc as well..

bad day for the ducatis compared to the last 3 races.

Predictable??!!! Haven't seen such a ride from Lorenzo since Valencia 2013. His was a totally insane & unbelievable ride today.

Also, wonder what happened to the Ducati boys!! Brilliant ride by Pol Espargaro though. Marc Marquez did well to manage 2nd position. Championship doesn't look so easy for MM93 anymore with 1 engine less & a broken finger & no Dani Pedrosa to help him. :-(

Yes, MotoGP was boring. Lorenzo was running a good pace. However, Jerez is also Lorenzo's home circuit where he has been training since his career began. It would be too early to declare he is back. That too with MM running with his broken finger.

Moto3 and Moto2 made up for the boring MotoGP. This year is Danny Kent's season to loose. The French kid Quartararo showed once again why rules were bent for him. I liked the way he tried to attack in the last corner, some may say it was not required, however, champions may not think like that. I am sure next season will be his.

In Moto2, it was Rinns who did a Quartararo in the last corner. However, I feel sad for him that he had to drop down to 18th. He too is having a great debut Moto2 season, and is the man to watch out for.

Is it possible that some other team may give Stoner a chance to come back with Honda saying no to him? I would love to see him in the mix.

Well something unusual did happen to the Ducatis. Iannone accidently switched into rain mode instead of Launch Control and rode the entire race in rain mode, very commendable that he finished 6th given the circumstances.

Dovi had a electronic problem in the last corner of the lap and overshot the corner dropping right back to last place and having to work his way through the field to 9th place. Also a commendable ride.

Both Ducati riders did well considering the unusual circumstances. Problems of riding a brand new bike!
