  • MotoGP 2015 Season - Updates

All the time I was expecting some kind of mistake by Jorge but he rode as well as in Jerez. Once he was in front, there was no looking back. He looks in great form and I hope the season continues with battle between these four.
Was expecting Rossi to close in for the fight for the win but Jorge never wanted to get into a fight with anyone nor did he have to .
I'm personally more comfortable with Rossi approaching anyone apart from Marc, cos I always have that fear of an Argentina repeat. But with Jorge I knew it would be clean and without any risk, if it happened.
The battle for fourth was amazing. Here, I was rooting for Andrea since he was the underdog in the fight with an injured shoulder. Marc's move on both the bikes in front at the first of the S's was amazing. Don't know what happened in the last laps that he showed such form. He did go back over a second behind Smith. Suddenly he caught up with guys in front for 4th position.
Felt bad for Dani, Cal, Redding, Aleix and Miller. Would have been and even more intense battle for fourth or maybe the positions behind.

Good race.. but my heart goes out to Iannone today... man, what a fight to Marquez that was... fabulous.. it appears that Iannone becomes possessed as soon as he sees Marquez

Went out for a ride after watching the race. That Iannone-Marquez duel helped me turn the throttle a wee more than normal!

Was great to watch those 2 hot headed young guns going at it hammer and tongs!

I'm sure you have better traffic conditions over there, but my friends and I have a saying here - don't go out for a drive after watching F1 and a ride after MotoGP. It always tends to put you in that mode to ride faster after watching the best. Now that you reminded us of it, I'll take a video along with me for the next track day.

I found it slightly boring. Yes, the fight between Iannone and Marquez was exciting, and I too wanted Iannone to come on tops. However, irrespective of his shoulder injury, I realised Marquez would gain 4th unless he had a fall. The lines he took to pass Iannone were more tighter, and had little room for anyone to pass him. Iannone was running a little wide I feel.
It was good for Bradley that he decided to be a spectator, but it would have been interesting for the fans of the sport to watch 3 way battle.
Lorenzo is back, and he is unstoppable with this kind of pace and form. Hope Rossi is able to dig deep enough to win the championship this year.
And, yes, Moto3 as usual was the most interesting race to see. Finally Mahindra were on the podium this season. Miguel Oliviera's luck does not seem to be favouring him on the KTM. He was a very different rider on the Mahindra.

Rossi will have to find the right setup quicker in the coming weekends if he wants to avoid being beaten by Lorenzo. You cannot start from the third row and hope the others in front have made a bad tire choice or run into problems... That may happen once or twice but a whole season is long.

This time he could have stayed with Jorge, had he started from the front. And once he's there with him he can upset his rhythm and try to beat him in the final laps; but if you let a Jorge Lorenzo in splendid form get away with his hammerlike pace, catching up with him becomes nigh impossible.

All the Honda riders had serious problems -- they consistently crashed losing the front. There seems to be something in the last batch of tires that Bridgestone is using since the circus arrived in Europe, that has upset Honda's chassis balance, while on the other hand the Yamahas and especially Lorenzo seem to love them. This tire busienss is always a lottery, and I cannot think of any other explanation for Honda's sudden crisis. It doesn't affect the lap time for one fast lap on the soft option, but over race distance it slows them down. The comments by both Marc and Dani have been very clear. Marquez even tried one of the chassis he had previously discarded during the Sepang tests -- a sign of frustration.

haha I second that, mate! It feels like the little kid who has just finished watching a Bruce Lee/Jackie Chan movie and started kicking everybody at home!

Well, I was working on Sat and Sun morning. So, I had to go after the race. Good luck for your trackday!

Rossi needs to qualify well and save his best for Marq and Lorenzo else, he will waste a lot of time, tyre and energy passing the mid-pack.

Good to see Yamaha topping the constructors' championship and it looks like it will remain that way till the end of the season.

                Edit:

I heard, MM was using a shorter swingarm for the race. The length of the bike was shortened to aid cornering, however, shortening also affects stability, unless the Engineers had found something to cure that.

Melandri is certainly making some noise on the social network.

We all know the real reason behind his lack of pace is his will to compete in MotoGP.

Few things he posted on twitter and FB
"I feel like a beginner" and "I have to change mentality, think like a test," said Marco Melandri on the eve of the championship 2015."

" Difficult moment that unfortunately without the will of certain people can not change. Sometimes common sense would have more power of money"

(above statement is generated using google translate)
Original is available at - MotoGP, Melandri, lo sfogo dopo il doppiaggio

Thanks for sharing the link @Makky

I was wondering there looks to be a trend in the falling Honda's and Dovi's statement - saying Honda's weakness is hidden by Marc's talent fueled that doubt. Now this article at Motomatters certainly confirms the problem Ducati had with Stoner.
Marc said he was struggling with the bike more than with the rivals, while Dani said he struggled with the bike more than his physical condition.

Though with this situation Marc's title chances are growing slimmer, but you never know Honda. The big powerhouse can bring in drastic changes if not every weekend at least every month and radically change the RCV213 into a better machine within a few months. But it's easier said than done. What I'm pointing out is, if someone can do it, it's Honda and no one else.

BTW, does anyone know if the Ducati GP15 still has the name "Desmosedici" associated with it?

Just adding to some idle speculation

Is Stoner cosying up with Ducati for a MotoGP ride after Honda refused him -

Yep, GPone posted this on FB as well. And I thought like "really?".
Casey is getting bit of desperate for a ride with such comments.

Any way the damage is done. :P I can just image how elated I would be to see our man on the top step after a stunning battle. My house will go crazy...
