  • Yamaha would love to keep both Rossi and Lorenzo....as they have said previously......I believe it was Rossi who didn't wanted his strongest competitor to get the benefit of his development skills.....with him crashing and sitting out.......he might not be in a position to Push them for getting rid of Lorenzo for next season

On the other hand, if Lorenzo wins the championship.....he might ask Yamaha to choose between him and Rossi........then It would be real difficult choice for them......

don't think so, He(Jorge) won't be given the liberty to choose his team-mate at Yamaha but nor do Colin/Ben want to partner Vale, they would like to be a partner with Jorge(if given a choice between Vale and Jorge),

and as electronics would be used less coupled with 1000cc rule, Vale might prove to be a better rider,

^Yamaha would have pushed Jorge out of the door had Vale not completed 30yrs-my personal thought

        Not abt championship.
Just that lorenzo is young, and has beaten Rossi in 2 races. Rossi seems to be Having problems lately..
I have been following MotoGp, But races and nothing else.

OT:just came across some articles abt Schumi and Ferrari....... thts the reason this thot ran into my mind....

        • well again the same topic!
When stoner crashed in Qatar, he and team said that it was rider error. He was trying to push hard. Its in the later races they released that there was some issue with the front. And they did kinda fixed the problem, if you see the data on sunday's warm up, Stoner was just .03 secs behind Lorenzo. But in the last lap, dani pulled in a great lap which meant the ducati was slower by a whole 0.4s, So they took a gamble on medium tires. well, its not a blind gamble, the yellow ducati finished in top 10 the previous race(it had softer rear).

And again, ducati has almost a similar setup of all 5 riders, unlike honda. so there is no question off, Ducato hearing to Hyden and not to stoner. again If it was Hyden who was developing the bike and was very confident, then why did he too go for the softer tire?

Hyden never pushed his ducati hard last year, becoz he was never confident. Check his last years remarks. This year he felt confident, thanks to a better engine! but yet to squeeze it to the top!

Regarding ducati/lorenzo, ofcourse everyone knew that there was an issue the riders. They were not rumors (like Stoner issue was regarding his wife and things). There were open exchange of harsh statements. So every team tried to buy one or the other. Thats common, but question of who will be replaced in Ducati.. is too much!

Eggjactly....Yamaha might be thinking about the future when Rossi might retire/switch to F1...then Lorenzo would be the best rider of the pack...any team wouldn't like to lose him.......

colin is considered a good friend of rossi......he shoudn't have much problems with partnering Rossi.....I don't see Colin/Ben refusing a factory ride(if offered)...for the sole reason of Rossi as a teammate

EDIT: @ Braumabull: I somehow feel that Ferrari kinda pushes their drivers out.....First Schumacher for Kimi and now Kimi for Alonso....Just my Personal thought.....the way both drivers went out......

            • Yamaha not replacing Rossi?

When Lorenzo put a V T-shirt or a black towel then He is trying to win Rossi fans..

When yamaha says its not gonna replace, then is it not trying to win Rossi fans? or shud I say it already won!

Yeah...Yamaha is trying to create a good image....will definitely help sales.....but they will Immediately lose the fans if they choose Lorenzo over Rossi......

Regarding Lorenzo's antics..... a lot of people understand the reason behind it simply.....he overdid it...

Colin Edwards interviews Ben Spies for BBC

Colin and Ben DO have a problem partnering Vale, we don't have access to behind the scenes activities, right?

being offered a factory ride will make them flip a coin maybe

hmm....haven't seen the video....What would happen if nobody is ready to be vale's teammate.....I mean good riders of course...

On second thought.....It wouldn't make much of a difference..........

Which is what my point is. At least they care for the rider who brought them back in business.
They value the rider and his role in this business. They are trying to woo Vale and may be sign him for life (some article said this).
And unlike other teams who treat riders like bots; if one isn't performing replace immediately with another one. Casey gave them a must needed championship after so many years and yet just because he was out due to illness they were ready to sign Lorenzo (a potential champion at that time) without delay.

As far Rossi Lorenzo goes, read this link:

                      • dude.. how sure are u that lorenzo was tried to replace Stoner in 2009?
U know that Lorenzo was in contract with yamaha for that year and next, So even if they get Lorenzo it will be after 2 years i.e 2011.

Ducati never tried to replace stoner! And Hyden was finishing 40 secs behind stoner, unlike the yamaha duo!

First thing: If you had read my post carefully I never said who they are replacing. Nicky was new to the team and also he is helping Ducati to sell a lot of their products (special limited edition Monster, etc) in US and which is why it was highly unlikely that they would fire Nicky after just one year without giving him a chance to improve and he did improve this year, didn't he?. It would kill their sales. Now would you want to do that if you are result oriented company? Hence you do the math who gets replaced.

And get your facts clear. Lorenzo's two year contract with Yamaha was due to get over in 2009 and He was due to sign again for 2010 which is when Ducati approached with that hefty pay package and after Stoner took a sabbatical. Then things didn't work out and Lorenzo re-signed with Yamaha for one more year i.e. 2010. And hence the situation of all top 4 riders up for grabs.

I never said any of it, Pal. It was just a discussion with view points about different teams on the grid.
Not every time you have to take it in "who is better than whom" manner.

                                + 1

@Prabhu : If you had followed a few interviews of Lorenzo you will know he was approached by Ducati !
There was one more interview in which Nicky was asked a question 'What do u think abt the offer ducati made to Lorenzo' and funnily remarked something about it too !
And then, Its just a discussion dude ! On how the teams treat their riders ! Leave off casey ! You remember how Capitrex and Melandri were chucked out ?! Melandri had come out saying they did nt even try to motivate him just because one rider was winning ! Its simple as that ! Just about the teams and factories !
Honda has this reputation now its moving to Ducati !
This thread is not an 'All hail rossi thread' just because there are too many fans of him ! I m no Rossi freak or fan ! Casey Rossi Lorenzo are all in the same level of desire to watch for me ! I m more of conventional laid back old school racers fan ! ex : Bayliss , Edwards , Nicky ! ..

Just keep your fan thing in control and enjoy this thread ! i m sure you won t find enuf friends in office to talk about GP ! Lets have it here, learn more , know more and have a healthy atmosphere !
