      • Ducati tests 900cc engine for 2012 MotoGP

DUCATI may consider using an all-new 900cc engine when new MotoGP rules revert back to an allowed maximum 1000cc capacity from 2012.

The thinking behind the move is to create the optimum size of motor for best horsepower and fuel consumption, says the teams engineering expert Filippo Preziosi.

With MotoGP bikes restricted to a tank size of just 21 litres, Preziosi believes 1,000cc engines may not be the most efficient way of gaining the best from the Ducati's V4 engine. The exact capacity the company will use has yet to be determined; a 930cc engine is also to be in the mix, says Prezioso.

"We have started the conceptual design to define the best displacement for power delivery and fuel consumption, we are concentrating on this," Preziosi said. "It is not clear that 1,000cc is the best, there is a compromise. A 900cc is very possible, maybe even a 930. And perhaps the displacement will change year-by-year depending on development. Once we have made the final decision I expect a prototype of the new bike to be ready for testing in mid-2011."

Differing capacity machines lining up on the MotoGP grid in 2012? Now there's something to put a cat amongst the pigeons.

I keep visiting the following site for the motogp/wsbk updates and got the link from there

It was on first come first serve basis for first 500 people. You find an empty spot on the bike, click it, upload your photo and register yourself. After sometime they'll confirm your spot and photograph through email.

PS: Thanks to sukant for introducing me to this site.

LOL! that was the only picture with me at that time
And believe me this is the only pic I look a little better

The slots were filling up so fast. When I first started looking for empty spots it was 65 spaces left and by the time I finished registering it was some 30 left.

                  • SCOOP: Rossi gets 'mohican' for Mugello!

MotoGP World Champ goes all-out for home Grand Prix

VALENTINO ROSSI will be sporting a mohican hair cut at this weekend's Italian round of MotoGP at Mugello.

The rumour the nine-time world champ would be going for the outlandish look was confirmed today by a source within the Fiat Yamaha team.

To compound the rumours, the Italian appeared at today's press conference wearing a baseball call with a mullet sticking out the back and the side of his head shaved.

Apparently, the Australian members of the squad twisted Rossi's arm into getting the new style.

                    • I believe if they use Screamer engine firing order, they might still get away with the less capacity.

A 930cc screamer would be powerful enough to match the big bang litre's, with electronics taking care of cornering speeds...
The same formula as in 2007 GP.

However, before I assume what will happen, let's see how other factory teams react to this.

                              • Everything related to big celebrities is a big news, no matter how small it may seem. If Amitabh sneezes, it makes a breaking news on all news channels. So, i don't think discussing rossi's hairdo is a 'over the top.'
