        • Damn, I hope he recovers soon!

Valentino Rossi’s 2010 MotoGP world title hopes disappeared today when he suffered a broken right leg in a huge high-side crash during final practice for his home race at the Mugello circuit in Italy this morning.

The reigning world champion was viciously thrown from his factory Yamaha YZR-M1 machine at the fast entry to the Biondetti chicane shortly before the approach to the final corner.

Rossi couldn’t even attempt to get to his feet as he immediately clutched his right leg in pain. TV pictures showed the 31-year-old grimacing in pain before he was carried away on a stretcher for further checks in the circuit medical centre.

It has been confirmed that the nine-times world champion has suffered a broken right tibia which means he will certainly miss the first British MotoGP race at Silverstone since 1986 later this month. And with so many races coming in quick succession with Silverstone closely followed by Assen and Catalunya, Rossi's title hopes appear in tatters.

The Fiat Yamaha rider was lying in third place on the timesheets when he crashed with a best time of 1.49.923 leaving him 0.251s off the pace of team-mate and world championship leader Jorge Lorenzo.

Rossi was already struggling for full fitness because of a slow recovery from a damaged right shoulder he suffered in a motocross training accident in April.

Was eagerly waiting for tomorrow's race to see the dog fight between Rossi and Lorenzo. Lets hope for a super fast recovery to "the doctor".

            • Ouch! That was some nasty highside. Sources sre saying that he's had compound fracture in his right tibia and he may be out for atleast 4-6 weeks.

              EDIT: Exposed compound fracture

              • After a successful surgery, doctor said "we can reasonably think of six weeks of partial weight-bearing with crutches". So this mean it may take longer than this. Rossi recently admitted that he underestimated his shoulder injury, so I don't think he's going to take any chances with this one...

It's gonna be a long boring wait it seems...

                  • Many guys won't be watching races because Rossi crashes,

should read as-- we won't be watching TV as Rossi won't be riding

Racing is much more than one man. Be it Rossi/Lorenzo/Casey etc

                    for stoner--
should there be a poll where you can vote for which lap will Stoner fall off his bike?

                    • Im not an expert to say this, but there is something that attracts everyone to Rossi. This season Lorenzo had done some spectacular unbelieveable classic perfect overtaking, but even so he don't have that charisma of watching Valentino race . He is a master technician, even if he is not leading we all expect him to pull out some special trick out of bag. I think this time Rossi was under tremendous pressure from Lorenzo and Mugello being his home ground. I dont know why Im feeling this, Lorenzo just seems arrogant or may be he is pushing himself to be recognized by everyone.

Sorry guys for saying these, this is strictly personal.........

                      • @Anupdas: why are you sorry?? hahaha Its perfectly ok whatever you have said.

See, no doubt Lorenzo is on a fantastic form so far in this season, just like Casey was in 2007. Winning against Rossi doesn't mean you become better than him (just like Nicky & Stoner aren't any close to Rossi), you just won, that's it! For another racer, being Rossi is as hard as being awakened in the middle of the pacific ocean and having no idea which is North, West, East & South!! Its going to take so much more than winning against Rossi to be atleast as good as him. Lorenzo's post race celebrations seem directly inspired by Rossi's, seems like he want to make him self noticed. Rossi's a original He's the GOAT, and when you say this for him, you say everything.

                        Cheers

                        • Thanks bro for those good words. I'm a noob here so don't want to provoke anyone by saying so. I seriously doubt that as these motorcycles are becoming so much sophisticated, the team with more intel and money power is overshadowing the driving technique. I have always liked MotoGp as here the difference between machinery is not that much as that in Formula 1. Its sheer fun to see riders pushing to the very limit and the one who drives sensibly winning.

                          • He'll be back.
But I feel his riding will not be the same again after this crash. Tibia and fibula breakage is no small/minor injury
let's hope it doesn't affect too much

it'll be really interesting to see who will fill up for Rossi for the coming races (or will they fill in?)
whoever it is if he pulls out something special then this might have a big impact on 2011 ride negotiations

yep agree with you. The sport is greater than any one rider.
Hoping to see a competitive race between Jorge, dani, dovi and may be the Kentucky kid

                              Against whom?
                              Valentino Rossi,

If the motorcycles are the same, there shall be a closer fight(like in-Moto2, WSBK etc)

It is too wannabe Rossi for my liking and frankly he looks plain stupid,
he didn't know how to swim, wish they left him on his own in Jerez

                              • All Honda riders were fast today. Good to see Stoner back in form, but it felt as if he was riding carefully and not aggressively, but there were some glimpses of his old form. Waited till the last lap to make a move on Melandri. Surely with out Rossi it looked so boring !!!!!
