          Borderline cocky I would say.....,

          Regarding Nicky....

I would say that he is good ....rather excellent...but not in the league of Rossi/stoner/Jlo....at least not on 800s anyway,

much impressed by his Ducati improvement....he has got a great attitude...never gives up and never whines.....few others have been able to ride that ducati.....

but am not much impressed by the 2006 title....the RCV was so good...besides a no. of things worked out in his favour......elias winning second last race by 0.005, rossi crashing out in final race.....etc etc....... not to take anything away from him though....this all is a part of the championship and he won it fair and square.....but that doesn't put him at par with motogp greats.....

@sumit- great link..particularly the scott jones one...
Thanks for the link pal. JB is a man having clear thoughts of what to do and what not which is what I like about him.
Can't wait for 2011 and see how everybody shapes out in their new teams...

          • And Motomatters says ' 4 factory Honda riders ' ! there ll be a 3 rider REPSOL ( Repsol looks to have agreed ) and a 4 th factory bike in Gresini with Vermicelli on it ! Isn t that bike already a factory supported bike ?

            • ^^Yeah "Sic", as the positions table always shows, is directly under contract with HRC Japan and "promised" factory supported bike. Nothing new in that but may be Livio Suppo, being a marketing manager, gave a funky line to publicize the fact

Hmm Maybe !I dont understand why HRC puig n repsol are making a big fuss abt a marketing manager !

In my opinion....Yamaha haven't shown any love for rossi....they considered him a spent force and tried to secure their future (choosing Jlolly)...I believe Rossi quit due to the paycut issue.....which could have been easily taken care had yamaha loved rossi (spies and Rossi...my fav team..)....., also they were quick to criticie rossi after the Japan race......

Yamaha-Rossi bond was more of a Furusawa-Rossi bond....

of course all this is my personal opinion only....

                  • VR left Yamaha as the pay-cut offered to him was meant to hike J-Lolly(Thank u kingkong, love this name) pay and was in a way to piss him off, which anyways did happen.

He did the right thing by walking-off.

                    • ^^ If you read the autobiography you will realize that money isn't important to him.
When he switched to Yamaha he had already decided to leave Honda long back in 2002. Yamaha acted like a catalyst to his cause. He realized that he would get what he wanted in Yamaha.

This decision of switch to Ducati is not something he would have thought all of a sudden. Back in 2003 also he was very much interested in Ducati but since his philosophy didn't match the company's at that time he chose Yamaha.
This paycut would have similarly acted like a catalyst in cementing his decision.

Makes me wonder who was that Rider who walked off from the "Day of the Champions" in the Silverstone.
                      Any guesses?

                      • I agree with kingkong's opinion. I feel that Yamaha acted out of sheer strategy and allowed new and promising blood to be a part of their future.

In my personal opinion, nothing is better than experience...especially if the experienced resource is fit and raring to win.

Whether Yamaha might have made the biggest mistake in their GP Career or has VR made a bigger one? Things will be clear next year around this time
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

As Sheel already pointed out.... the deciding factor was that his pay is being cut and then a raise being given to lorenzo.....this is an insult, I guess it would have been fine with rossi if his pay was kept intact regardless of lorenzo's increment

yes I did...great article.....and I was wondering about the same....that is typical Jlolly behaviour...but the adjectives used like...."likable, generous, biggest star, amazingly talented" make me doubt that maybe it was not lorenzo.., reading the article further, particulalry the japanese gp part....his general tone is that of Lorenzo being egoistic...this again points to Lorenzo....what do you think??

As I said all these developments only acted as a catalyst to his decision to make a move. He was already concerned about Furusawa retiring after this season.

There can only be two people addressed in the article Either Rossi or Lorenzo
The reason is because if you see the tags mentioned at the bottom of the article, it says: "Jorge Lorenzo, MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, Yamaha"
I too had the same confusion when he said likable, etc. But as far as we have seen Rossi, he has never been arrogant to his fans...Arrogance has been a trait of Lorenzo in the past and also Stoner. But don't think Stoner is being referred here.
Or may be it is Rossi, who knows
                            This is just my observation.

that is sure....no other 2 share such bitter rivalry....
