        • Sz-X ride!

          Here's my Sz-x

          And here are my opinions-

          1. As a commuter machine, the sz has tremendous potential, it has a strong mid range punch, which will help commuters, and the bike is quite flickable, the braking is adequete, for a commuter, not that you should push things really hard though, , overtaking is a joke below the speeds of 70 kays, after that the bike starts running out of puff!.....also the riding position is super comfortable for short to medium jaunts, but the pricing has compromised the quality of parts, the non movable footrests and icky rubber quality, left me certainly wanting for more! the glady is way better on features, this one aint!! The bike misses small but important things like an engine kill switch, a pass switch, and a tacho. The ride quality of the Sz is superb, i mean, i couldnt feel any pothhole or speedbreakers , this will certainly become the plushest bikes in the country, after pulsar! The sz is a magical machine for a commuter, and a must have second bike for anyone looking for a fun fast 150, oh, and as for the fuel efficiency, it gives 40- 48 kays to a litre of gasoline (in the city)

          2. As a performance machine, the SzX has it's shortcomings though,
while the low and mid range is good, the bike runs out of puff after 75, and you would be constantly searching for the sixth gear.....the bike does handle really well, but the grip from the tyres (TVS) shows, i cant corner it as i do my fz16, as the fz's suspension is stiffer, therefore more planted, but the Sz is more flickable than the fz though! The bike certainly looks the part, but it's size is confusing, as i was asked a trillion times at the lights whether this was a 125cc machine. The drums work pretty well (exceptionally well i may add), but they never give you the feedback that a disc can.The top end i managed to clock was a dismal 90 km/hr, as the bike had virtually no power to pull ahead after that!
Not a bike for the enthusiast, take a fz16, or a r15 instead, but if you are looking for a cheap 150cc commuter, with the YAMAHA badge, it would do just fine!

I gun the throttle, the motorbike wails, the forks heave up, the revs climb, my view blurs, air gushes in my lid, muscles tighten, street lights streak. Just another day at work...
