      • guys yamaha has done a great job with the launch of the SZ and SZ-X and with the robust engine, style, comfort, mileage and the fab price there sure is going to be a tough fight in the commuter segment. As for the missing front Disc.. yamaha has provided 150mm drum as compared to 130mm from other brands which am sure is accepted. The mileage figures claimed by the company is 62kmpl which is simply superb.

Now people looking to upgrade from a basic 100 or 120cc can easily do it without worrying about the mileage ot style or riding comfort or the price. Infact Yamaha has done a great job by bringing in the SZ... kudos to YAMAHA.

Any way good pricing makes it really interesting now a digi console would have been nice but price is good so no comments.

          • good step from yamha by SZ launch. BTW is the engine same as in FZ.

How they managed to price it so well?

yes the engine is the same as in fz. They have reduced the cost by taking out a lot of goodies in the fz like digi console, tyre, disc brakes etc etc.

i think a 150 cc bike at such throw away price, this bike would be a big hit.

hunk, cbz, p150 ---- i guess ur days are over

India is a country where people rather than seeing the VFM ,performance etc etc give more importance to the word of mouth. So I dont see that happening. But yeah the sales would surely increase to a large extent.

                    • The biggest feat achieved on this bike from my perspective is in the technical specs -

                      Max Power - 12.1 PS @ 7500 rpms
                      Max Torque - 12.8 Nm @ 4500 rpms

Though the Max Torque number looks same as others in the competition, but the fact that it is actually a tad bit more than Max Power and more than that it comes at 4500 makes the bike very usable in city conditions and much more fun to ride than it's competition.
Twist your wrist and feel the shift!!

                      My own thoughts - Throttle

                        i agree with it.

Its not the amount of power producing which matters but how much effectively it can be used & spreaded across the gears is the thing which matters.

Well thats wot we r just guessing.....but let us ask ourselves....would we really buy this bikes WITHOUT Disk brakes, over the Hunk or Unicorn or P150??
it can only pull the people going for the Gladiators and may b some other, who dont care abt Disks.but maximum youngsters, would prefer a disk brake, that may be for fancy reasons,though..I still feel,a byk without Disks never gives a BIG byk feel..
Disks r really important for these bikes to do well...Hope soon they r going to put that option...

                          • we are a biking community of approx 15k members.. even many in us dont know the advantage and usage of disk brakes.. for the outside population its a fancy prop just like a digital display or leg brake lights.. they may not be ignorant but then many have the opinion that disks are only when you go fast.. since these kinda bikes are gonna be used inside a city or town mostly they wouldnt consider them.. the 100cc splendour still sells without disks.. a 5bhp of power is not a big deal.. its after all a 150cc bike..

this bike will definitely drill the market..
                            Regardless, Life shall go on.

                              • ^^^ add to many people think disk is dangerous it is right in terms of their mind set because usually many people dont know how to use a disk brake ie they just pull brake for too long time or apply very hard way and wheels gets lock immediate disaster.

                                edit:
that is true and also power is also low 11.9bhp vs above 13.3 bhp bikes and pricing is also confusing, it priced at 52k with disk and competition at59k with disk and with bhp rating starting at 13.3bhp and add to that stunner at 54k with disk, p135 at 51k its tough situation for yamaha to make up huge volumes, but any good pricing by yamaha comparing with honda
