I don't think so because with a detuned FZ's engine will not be good enough to beat Discover 150. why i said because i currently own an FZ and i know its ability as well... BINGO
This bike is for mileage, need to wait and see about the mileage part too, if it gives a mileage between 55-60 its good, else...

Correct, but what about the toughness of the engine and bike ? I know, yamaha is +1 in that department.

It seems finally Yamaha woke up and is decided to give something for the masses. I only wish they had service network to backup this aggressive launch. These are certainly tempting and should give serious headache to competition.. HH should certainly be worried and so should be Bajaj!! Glad to see more options for commuters all the best, Yamaha..

wonderful move by yamaha.. looks like yamaha too wants to take a plunge in the volume game..

i have a silly doubt! if two engine make similar power figures and similar torque, but one is 125cc and the other is 150cc, then is there any advantage of buying a 150cc bike??
cuz i see a disadvantage of lower mileage and nothing else. how will this bike be different from say yamaha gladiator type ss/rs or honda stunner etc??

the YBR 110 has the electric start. So the YBR 125 should also have one.

a lot of guys like to own a 150cc & not its mileage. This bike is for those guys. The gladiator is more of a performance bike rather than a commuter. Its power is concentrated in higher rpm's & hence it is not a good city bike but the SZ's power is in its lower rpm & hence a good city bike. Even the bajaj has released the disco 150 & p135 but still the sales of both bikes are going up day by day & both these bikes have nearly similar power while there is a difference of nearly >1bhp power & >2NM torque in b/w the gladi & SZ.

i think the sz's pricing is directly targeting the lower end HH as well because HH passion plus is priced at 47,200... why would i want to buy a bike of 100 c.c. in 47k when i can get a bike of 150c.c. in 49k.....

at the same time it is also in direct competition with disco 150 which is actually 144c.c. in comparison to the sz which is 153c.c. and costs around 51k on road...
but i might go for the disco 150 because of the extra 2 bhp power....

on the whole for people who dont know much about bikes or engines the sz will compete with almost every bike in the 125c.c., 135c.c. and 150c.c. segment....
