If you say it is targetted at certain community of people, then I take your point as well as Payengs. But then, the exclusivity is lost among those community isn't it?

So, if someone is being debarred from the participation of enjoyment, it means exclusive. Ok, so, what do you think on HD & their customization. The VP says no two Harley's look alike? Don't you think they become even more exclusive than KTM?Originally posted by R-series View Post
And do what? Kill KTM? If something is meant for business, it has to be sold, if it isn't sold, then there's no purpose to have made it isn't it?Originally posted by R-series View Post

I don't think exclusivity is the driving factor behind the high price of KTM.. it's technology..look at R15.. why is it priced above 1 lakh?? is it for the exclusivity factor.. may be, but that's not the most important point considered.. there is certainly a bit of premium involved in the pricing of R15.. but that doesn't mean without that premium R15 can be sold at 80k ex-show room!! right?? if you take out the fairing KTM 125 has all the tech bits R15 has.. so ideally it should cost more or less the same as R15/CBR 250 (to produce it), if we presume that just a bigger heart won't alter production cost by a lot. So.. if at all Duke 200 is released, I for one wouldn't expect it to be priced like a P220.. it would be more like CBR 250. Just because Bajaj is proudcing Duke 200 will not make it cheap.. even Honda is going to manufacture CBR 250 in India.. so it will be around CBR 250's price.. don't even dream about sub 1 lakh pricing.. that's impossible.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

^^^ Good point
Also, add to the import tax factor unless KTM's are completely manufactured in India by BAL.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

I never meant to be a part of the discussion. You just asked what "exclusive" means..thats what I replied to, nothing else. I never said whether the price is justified or not and neither do I care if the duke is priced at 1000 Rs or 10lakh Rs.To hell with the exclusivity.
I don't understand what makes you guys ignite over such small discussion..Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Lol!!! Look who's saying on minding the language. Did I verbally abuse? Did I loose my cool asking to mind language? Cool buddy, this is a small discussion, if you don't like the response, feel free to report the post
Remember, we're discussing this even before something is even getting confirmed. ROFL!!! Take it easy @R-series

ExactlyOriginally posted by ksameer View PostBajaj will price it high only because they won't want cannibalisation. I am sure they can price it a bit lower but they won't do it.
This is where exclusivity comes in. If I buy a KTM, the last thing I would like to see would be 50000 of them selling every month.
I won't say that but will say that Bajaj would want to establish it as an Exclusive, Premium, High priced (and hence low volume) brand like the Xylys is for Titan and Lexus is for Toyota.Originally posted by ksameer View PostKTM is a premium brand for Bajaj and Bajaj doesn't even want to establish it in India.

As for the pricing of D200, here's my two cents in it:
Bajaj should price KTM at 1.3L. That way, it stay clear of the average P220 buyer and would nicely undercut CBR250.
Btw Payeng, if Bajaj were to come up with even more aggresive pricing, won't this bike become the dream of every stunter??

Err...I don't know what to say!!! Are you talking your dreams or talking out of ignorance?Originally posted by ksameer View PostI am hoping KTM would be priced less than CBR250.
Fact
#1 - Payeng's statement on official statement from BAL on pricing
#2 - KTM's are either SKD/CKD & are not built in this country
#3 - All SKD/CKD's attract 60% import taxes
#4 - C250R do not attract import taxes as they're built in this country
Now tell me mate, how do you expect even the KTM125 to be priced lower or at par with C250R?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Sorry for being late in replying. I was searching for the source . Cycle News | Riding KTM's 125 DukeOriginally posted by aargee View PostErr...I don't know what to say!!! Are you talking your dreams or talking out of ignorance?
This says that KTM will be built in India with high level of localisation. Hence, the only reason that would stop Bajaj from pricing it aggresively would be the fear of diluting the Pulsar brand.

^^^ That's quite an interesting article & Tks for sharing. Now that only adds more confusion lest we should wait & watch as how the pricing goes in India.
Probably what Rajiv would've meant is double the price of any 125cc segment that Pulsar (which is currently in Discover) is being offered.
But certainly a good find @ksameer

I think it is revised to 30%Originally posted by aargee View PostErr...I don't know what to say!!! Are you talking your dreams or talking out of ignorance?

But...I still have doubts if KTM200 will be priced at 1.5LOriginally posted by ksameer View PostThanks RG.
And since Pulsar is priced right from 55k to 70k, double of that would range from 1.1L to 1.4L. It would be interesting to see where KTM fits in this bracket.
Only time will tell.
Budget brings bad news for supercars, maybe - Hindustan TimesOriginally posted by shadabk01 View PostI think it is revised to 30%
The new definition in the budget disallows manufacturers a concessional 10% import duty for cars and mobikes where either the engine, gearbox, transmission or chasis come in as a pre assembly form. Effectively, this would increase import duty on cars as varied as a Hyundai i20 diesel, Toyota Innova to a top of the line BMW 5 series, to 60%, making them way more expensiveSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
