Yeah thats what i am also trying to say that this bike has a very limited audience.Originally posted by xxbomb View PostNo hard feelings, i was just expressing like you. I am just wishing for 'more' from them, not just 15ps @10.5 . . if this was around 20-25ps, it would have rocked my world..
And for that fact ktm-bajaj debut bike should have been a single cylinder producing 28-27bhp with the same or better chassis to handle the power and priced it around 1.3l to 1.5l
now some would say that this pricing is not possible, but i would say that bajaj already has manufacturing plants here and to>
create waves in market/to be the leader in affordable performance category/to create a fan base of ktm they could have sold the bike at not so high profits.
But they chose the less practical way.
I would say that the current indian biker wants something more powerful than 20bhp bikes and this with a 250cc mill would have done the magic.
Ktm as it is a new term for a bike manufacturer in india.
People would any day prefer a Honda by saving more to get even more over this bike.
With this move the cbr250r would pawn this bajaj-ktm 125cc.
OT>Sony initially sold its ps3 at a loss of 250-300usd per system.
iSuppli: Sony Selling PS3 At $300US Loss - Neoseeker News Article
Outcome>The console became a hit even after the fact that there was no hack to it for 4years.
Still today it sells like hot cakes and brings huge profits to sony.
Bajaj could have followed the same trend and sold the bike at a little lesser profit but with a 250cc heart.
That would have thrashed the competition.
Regards,
UtkarshThats NOT neon glow under my ride you fool, thats cherenkov radiation!!!!!

Its nice to hear the comfortable riding position on 125 & excellent suspensions (never mind the 14 Bhp)
But on a 200cc motor, it should be a good enough to satisfy most of the power hungry folks. Yes, certainly both D125 (or D200 should) appeals.
But one single most important question remains...what price tag? Already FZ (160 though) is offering 14 Bhp at 75K odd & Pulsars are munching & spewing the 150 to 200 cc segments on their price tags as well as technology. So unless D125/D200 is priced correctly, they're bound not to be received well in the price concious market.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Mr. Bajaj has already said in Interviews that the Duke for India will be priced TWICE than the Pulsars!!!
I would prefer it to stay that way so that it remains exclusive.
Mr. Bajaj has already stated in Interview that India will get a 200 cc Duke and not a 125 cc Duke. With just 130-135 odd Kerb weight (the CBR250R weighs 167 Kgs), the Bajaj Duke will have a healthy power to weight ratio.

I just dunno, I loved this bike very much! But waiting and uncertainty pushed me into CBR! Still this is one killer. Hope India gets its 200cc heart as promised and by December

Is it? Why is it that they're such highly priced? Is it because of the import (SKD/CKD) tax?Originally posted by payeng View Postthe Duke for India will be priced TWICE than the Pulsars!!!
Err...what defines that exclusive. I've been hearing this for quite sometime now & would want to understand the real meaning of it.Originally posted by payeng View PostI would prefer it to stay that way so that it remains exclusive.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Bajaj will price it high only because they won't want cannibalisation. I am sure they can price it a bit lower but they won't do it. This is where exclusivity comes in. If I buy a KTM, the last thing I would like to see would be 50000 of them selling every month. KTM is a premium brand for Bajaj and Bajaj doesn't even want to establish it in India.Originally posted by aargee View PostIs it? Why is it that they're such highly priced? KTM is for europe and middle east and south america. I guess I am right on that!!

Definition: Exclusive (Meaning of Exclusive)Originally posted by aargee View PostErr...what defines that exclusive. I've been hearing this for quite sometime now & would want to understand the real meaning of it.
in regards to the Duke 200/125 (whichever is being spoken about), it means something which is not easily accessible. The price being high for the duke makes it exclusive, meaning that neither everyone will be willing to buy it nor everyone will want to buy it.
P.S by everyone I mean majority of the users of 2 wheelers.Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.
