      • The bike looks super cool...... we still have 1 year to save money...... provided they launch the 15ps model with 12nm torque...... it'll be fun to drive in the cities......

A little OT: one year down the line, a kid asking for his/her first bike from his parents(Indian Scenario)
Kid: Dad, I want a bike
        Dad: which one
        Kid: R15
Mom: no way, only bad boys ride them & I heard its very fast
Kid: okay, so any 150cc will do
Mom: no 150cc, give him something 100cc or maybe 125cc
Dad(looking sceptically towards Kid): so will you be happy with 125cc?
Kid: yes Dad, & let's settle for Duke
Dad: okay, deal & what's the price
        Kid: 150k
Dad(shouting at the top of his voice): no deal & to H@!! with cc, anything within 60k & not a single penny more than that
the rest was all chaos & it resulted in higher sales figure for Bajaj

              • KTM 125 Duke looks great in Black & Orange combination.
Bajaj has just launched Pulsar 180 & 220 in Orange & Black color.
Is Bajaj trying to guage the response to Orange colored bikes in the indian market?

Stunner !! Its a machine thats not able to produce a 12 bhp. Not able to do a true hundred... Just adding a fairing and FI on a 125 will not work..

KTM duke is a different game altogether.

                          • More Updates

The second largest two-wheeler manufacturer of India, Bajaj Auto, will introduce its new bike Duke 125cc in India by mid-2011. "There are plans to launch Duke 125, which was showcased at Cologne (Germany) this year. The bike will be first launched in Europe and then it will be brought to India," said S. Ravikumar, the company's vice-president for business development. "This will happen sometime next year... in the first quarter of the next fiscal," said Amit Nandi, vice-president, pro-biking segment, Bajaj Auto.

Bajaj and Austrian auto maker KTM will introduce Duke 125cc in Europe in March 2011. The 125cc sports bike has been jointly developed by both the companies. Bajaj and KTM shook hands in 2007 when the former picked up 14.5 percent stake in KTM to access engine technology. KTM sells sports and off-road bikes in a range of engine capacities, from sub-100cc to almost 1,000cc.

Apart from the Duke 125, Bajaj also plans to launch new Pulsar 150cc in India by late 2011.

There is a press release by Bajaj Auto out today which talks about them increasing their stake in KTM (38.09% now)...

But an extract is interesting... It says "The first of the co-developed products KTM Duke 125 will hit European markets in 2011. Launch of a KTM product suitable for India, from this joint development is planned for H2 of 2011"

                              Cheers...

Mumbai, Nov 3 (IANS) Bajaj Auto's Netherlands subsidiary Wednesday raised its stake to 38.09 percent in KTM Power Sports AG.

'Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV Netherlands (BAIHBV), a 100 percent subsidiary of Bajaj Auto Ltd, purchased further 244,600 shares in KTM Power Sports AG (KTMPS) on Nov 3,' the company said in a statement.

In 2007, Bajaj Auto had picked up a 14.5 percent stake in KTM to gain engine technology and a distribution network in Europe. The current purchase takes the total shareholding of BAIHBV in KTMPS to 38.09 percent.

Earlier Bajaj and KTM had agreed on joint development of-125cc and 250cc water-cooled engines. The first co-developed product, the KTM Duke 125 is expected to hit the European markets in 2011.

'Launch of a KTM product suitable for India, from this joint development is planned for second half (H2) of 2011,' the statement said.

The bike is expected to come into India by mid-2011.

The bikes are being "Co-Developed" by both KTM and Bajaj, Bajaj is not just assembling these bikes for KTM.
