At best there can be a 250cc engine in place of the 150 cc one. But I doubt that the body will be different (due to development cost).Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostOh no! Dont jump the gun so soon folks... this is Hondas R15

But will how feasible will it be to plonk a 250 cc on the same platform?

Looks sweeeettt....
If this is Honda's answer to R15, then what would be its cost?? I'm pretty much sure that this will be priced more than R15.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostOh no! Dont jump the gun so soon folks... this is Hondas R15

And in that case, if 250 also is coming, It'll surely be around the Ninja 250R price...Sudeep P Nambiar

No this one is for sure the 150CC bike... the similarities with stunner, the ratios as mentioned by nitro were key give aways...
The bigger bike is still a mystery bike then.. the VFRish bike and the linkage to it to be based on the VTR platform made it confusing....
I guess you have a idea about what the bigger honda would now be all about!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

I now doubt that a 250 cc would be coming at all. A 250 cc would call for an entirely new engine development.
But yes if the CBR 150R comes to India, the Yamaha R15 will have a very tough time.

I didnt say anything about a 250Originally posted by payeng View PostI now doubt that a 250 cc would be coming at all. A 250 cc would call for an entirely new engine development.

I have my doubts that this could be based on the CBR150r platform AND it coming to India... it means Honda would have had to work hard to re tune the engine to meet the emission norms here...!
It has a PGM FI chip on it... so!
So M&M Mojo is still the ONLY bike in the 250+ CC category!!!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

How about new CBR150R chasis imported from Thailand and CB300R 292 cc engine imported from Brazil assembled together in Haryana tabled as CBR 300 at 1.5 lakh or so.
Or (Almost impossible) a detuned CRF 250R engine rated 30PS in the above shown new CBR150R chasis imported from Thailand and engine totally made in India for the world markets, at 1.5 or so.
But I don't have high hopes from them. The Original CBZ

Won't be very easy to fit an engine which sits on a cradle frame (CB 300R) on a Twin Spar frame (CBR 150R).Originally posted by Technician View PostHow about new CBR150R chasis imported from Thailand and CB300R 292 cc engine imported from Brazil assembled together in Haryana tabled as CBR 300 at 1.5 lakh or so.

By the way the CB 300R has an air cooled engine and the CBR 150R has a liquid cooled one.

@Payeng - I didn't expect this from you, a biker of your calibre.Won't be very easy to fit an engine which sits on a cradle frame (CB 300R) on a Twin Spar frame (CBR 150R).

They don't have to fit; they invent and make new modules. The cast iron pipes of different sizes and strength are easily available in India. Rather it is difficult to make new engines for every market. Everything else including chasis is supplied by OEM suppliers. Even within engines, cylinder, piston, rings, crankshaft, rods, valves, rockers arms, plugs, electronics, flywheel, whole crankshaft cover castings, everything is supplied and is available in India. The OEM suppliers of CB300 R engine would pack the parts and can ship it to anywhere in the world, including Jhumritaliya.
Though, if Honda gets cosy and decides to make a detuned CRF 250R engine (which have much better technology) in India, it would be a first for an Asian country. But I am pessimistic on this count.

Its not an easy task. And certainly not as simple as you have stated.Originally posted by Technician View Post@Payeng - I didn't expect this from you, a biker of your calibre.

An entire development cycle of designing-manufacturing-testing is involved.
And if the model is not a volume generating one.. then it doesn't make sense either.
