Nice link. But it'll be overly priced at 2.7 lakh for a single cylinder unlike the Ninja 250r. But if it's manufactured here then well and good. Or if these are the facts, which i doubt, then its not going to do well. With these specs and price people would prefer the Ninja any day to the cbr250Originally posted by harryhunt7Probably...
. But hope they come out with a proper 250 soon. Our market badly needs competition to the Ninja, or otherwise, more 250cc bikes from the big brands at sensible prices! Btw any news about the specs of the 150? Anyone?

Yes, at that price of 2.7-3.0 lacs it will not have many buyers too. It should be manufactured here and exported to EuropeOriginally posted by ironman View PostNice link. so that it costs less here atleast.
Otherwise I guess 150r is also a good alternative in the 1.10-1.25 lac price range, that is if it comes to India.
The actual Specifications should have been out by now in Thailand as I got this brochure image from a Thai site but you can't really tell, the guy should have zoomed in or taken a scan. I can only make out it has 11.0:1 compression. Soon someone will find the actual specs.

"looks can be deceiving"
yes, r15 looks like a track tool and the cbr looks like a sport commuter. but the engine specs tells an entirely different story. the old and new cbr will most probably have the same engine i guess. so the assumption is based on the old cbr150r.
r15 has a square engine and is an SOHC. the cbr on the other had has a short stroke engine with a larger bore than the r15 and is a DOHC. means it is a more race oriented engine than the r15. the old cbr had its peak power hitting at 10500 rpm(where r15's rev limiter is) where as r15 produce its peak power at 8500rpm. i personally know how hard it is to get the stock r15 hit 9500rpm in top gear. and the stock cbr150r tested at mmsc was a lot faster than a stock r15. r15 handles better but the cbr makes up for that loss in the power department. it has 1-1.5 hp more than r15. but much lower torque(13.xx nm) than r15. like a true race engine. and another interesting fact is that honda is geared shorter than r15 which is the reason for its better acceleration. cbr is slower at 10500rpm in top gear than an r15 at the same rpm in top gear. but a stock r15 never hits 10500 rpm in 6th where as a cbr150 does. another fact is that r15 has a higher theoratical top speed than the cbr. r15 hits 152.8 kmph at 10500rpm(redline) in 6th but the cbr only manages 145.3kmph at 11500rpm(redline) in 6th. i still dont know how some guys claim ridiculous top speeds(160kmph) for a stock cbr. a stock cbr cannot hit 160+ without reaching rpm in excess of 12700!
i still dont think cbr is a threat to r15. gear r15 shorter and we have a tie between r15 and cbr. but the cbr will be priced more than r15(i'm guessing atleast 10k more). thats 100% sure. and the honda has a weak sales department. waiting period for unicorn is 9 months in our town. so the cbr will have a waiting period of like what? 2 years

Guys, this bike from honda is the same old CBR150R (we used to race these during the Honda one make races) except for new fairing ala VTR style.
I can see the frame, the engine side covers (look closer and you will find the bolts on clutch side of the engine covers are the same too) the radiator, the disks, rims, rear sets are all the same !
At this point I am not sure about the new injection tech on this bike or the change in performance. But the bikes which were made available during the one make races were ...well..everyone knows what kind of a rocket those were !
