The conjunctive branding is too strong for Hero to be able to manage alone at least at the moment. I don't think what worked for Bajaj will work for them because Bajaj always stood for itself. It was always "Hamara Bajaj" and not "Hamara Bajaj Kawasaki". Hero will have to reiterate the fact that they are the largest manufacturers of motorcycles in the country." Also he adds that Hero's branding in India is currently associated with Hero Cycles and that could turn out to be down market for bike users.

Meanwhile, Hero Honda spokesperson said that the story was speculative.

Ideally that should not happen because Splendor will be still Splendor and so will the other bikes like Passion/CBZ Xtreme and Karizma. But who knows?

Probably this will show why exactly ppl are mad abt HH bikes, is it coz pll actually buy a HH bike coz of honda's name or is it their bikes really that good!

Suzuki has probably bought all the Govt. of India stake a couple of years back. Just that the name "Maruti Suzuki" still continues on some models.

JV's are never a "hapily ever after" story. And the Hero + Honda JV at 25 Plus years is one of the longest ever.

Seriously speaking I am really happy that this is happening to Hero Honda and I hope they cease to exist in some time. Only because they knew that their splendour and passion would earn their bread and butter they kept force feeding us with ghastly paintjobs and stickerjobs in the name of upgrades. Without honda Hero motors would find it really hard to sustain for too long.

Even if they buy an R&D firm the chances of them lucking out are very less cos replicating honda quality is next to impossible. Their only chance could be another JV cos setting up an r&D arm and then waiting for it to deliver is too long a process.

Never imagined so many people hate Hero honda

BTW..my project's program manager who earlier worked in HH, I had casual chat with him and told about this split thing. HE was telling that...Hero is too rich in cash reserves, it can out right buy out any R&D organization in the world and can get the stuff what it wants and also can buy out couple of two wheelers manufraturers.

I hope this splits gets better out of Hero.
