dropped the idea of getting it from pondicherry. Cost of transfer & reregistration brings the cost close to same as bangalore cost.

1.67 in Bangalore and 1.36 in Pudu! Wow! But you are saying with everything else, registration etc it will come to the same amount if using in different states?

I have decided to buy it from Bangalore and get the registration from Haryana

A word of Caution!!!

Statutory Warning:
For all those who are planning to ride their bikes in Karnataka, specifically Bangalore, kindly refrain from buying bike in one location and getting it registered in another state.
I will tell you why. My friend had a Kerala registered bike which he brought to Bangalore. He knew, in Bangalore he had to pay a hefty tax of almost 15k. The reason being because in Bangalore they charge lifetime tax only, for vehicles; As such you don't have yearly tax. Now knowing this, he did not pay anything, thought he could get away with simple fifty rupees bribe to police everytime he was caught. But this thing backfired.
He had a minor accident, wherein, the victim, though was taken to hospital by him, charged a case of hit-and-run. And this is inspite his courtesy of staying by the victim's side for two days till her relatives reached. In the end of all this drama, he had to shell out an amount of Rs. 25000 just to keep the case quiet and do away with impending imprisonment for 3 days.
I am not trying to scare you guys, and I, god-forbid, wish no accidents to our CBR's. But the fact is, even though I, in Bangalore, am paying a bigger amount(in the name of greedy tax), atleast I will have peace of mind riding Bruna(my CBR). So please refrain from any such acts of buying from one state and registering in another state. I am specifically talking about Bangalore residents. I have no knowledge about other states. I remember in this thread someone quoting about higher taxes in Bangalore, be it one year or life time. Well the matter of the fact is that in Bangalore, we only have life-time taxes on vehicles(AFAIK)(I would humbly request members to counter my statement in a respectable manner with sufficient first hand info).
I had to post this, for the benefits of my bretheren, and I do not wish any of you undergo the horrors we(me and my friend) underwent to get out of that case. Cheers!!!

91 Octane, More bummer O_O

What more would you like to know about the fuel thing.?

If one is lucky he will end up paying a bribe and getting away. If its his unlucky day, the cops (in this case, specifically the RTO) will seize the vehicle and release it only after paying the road tax (LTT) and penalty, an amount which will be much more than registering the bike in Blore. plus chai paani kharcha for the cops to release the bike and of course, haven't you guys heard of batteries and stuff getting stolen from the police impound itself?

Dont be penny wise and pound foolish.

I was in Pune for a year and took my car along with me. Although i could have gotten away showing toll receipts (and in my case I could use the car for 6 months legally without paying anything to MH Govt.) i paid over 11k as LTT.

Total peace of mind.

So, if you are buying the bike, register it in the city where you intend to ride it in. Avoid the hassle and ride with peace of mind. Why cheat?

If normal fuel IS 91 octane, then what about Speed?? isnt that 91??

So normal fuel from HP or BP will be enough ? Or we have to get shell like others talking ?

No no no cheating involved, my dad's in defence, and we have to shift every 2 years or so, so we do not come under that law, so I can buy the vehicle here and get registration from wherever Have been doing that with the other three vehicles for the past 21 years

Interesting as to why the tax are being charged differently.
The prices are compared based on the prices obtained from the website. Is it that the prices shown are inclusive of insurance.

Also an advice for the members who are thinking of getting their bikes from Bangalore and registering it in a different city.Please do not do it as documents such as id proof and address proof are required for the same and without these no one will register your bike. i have faced this issue when is was working in Delhi and did not have a permanent address proof thereto register my bike.

So only Shell is 91O or anyother?

The normal fuel we get in the IOCL,BP or HP pumps is 87 octane.
Speed (BP) and xtrapremium are all 91 octane.

You all can fill with speed or xtrapremium (91 octane) as the compression ratio of CBR is 10.7:1 which is better than other commuter vehicles.

For vehicles with CR more than 10, 91 octane is recommended. Though incase of emergency.. as Aditya pointed out.. sometimes filling on 87 octane will do no harm.. (IMHO- Being a Petroleum Engineer ).

I always go for 91 octane from shell for my Ninja.
