Even I had been using shell Premium every time I filled my FZ (for 2 years).I never tried any other petrol for my bike. Believe me it was running smooth and also I used Shell Helix Engine oil. I found lot of difference in the engine performance.
My bike was running super smooth and silkier Gear shift..
These where my experiences using shell fuel only. Never checked the mileage though as I was not interested in that

Someone had this comparison some pages ago.
R15
Liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHCDOHC, 4-valve
Single Cylinder
249.6 CC
Bore X Stroke : 76 X 55 mm
Compression ratio : 10.7 : 1
Net Power : 25BHP/8500 rpm
Net torque: 22.9nm / 7000 rpm
Given the above specifications, wrt the engine construction, I see that SOHC Vs DOHC is the only difference between R15 and CBR. Both have 4 valves. Then of course there is difference in CC and BHP etc..
Now, what advantage does DOHC give CBR over R15's SOHC?
More precisely, which one has a technically (or technologically) superior engine (not comparing the CC) ?
Experts, kindly throw some light on this.

So technically, we are INDEED getting a full 1.4 bhp less. 25 instead of the global 26.4. Thats a letdown, dont understand why!Originally posted by shivaprasad.ms View PostSomeone had this comparison some pages ago.

Dual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) has better engine smoothness and refinement compared to Single Over Head Camshaft (SOHC).. Also, the engine will rev more freely at top end in DOHC config compared to SOHC config when all other parameters such as Bore, Stroke, Compression Ratio etc are kept constant..Originally posted by shivaprasad.ms View PostSomeone had this comparison some pages ago.

As far as R15 & CBR250R are concerned, R15 will have a slightly slower high rpm throttle response compared to CBR250R because of the DOHC arrangement in the CBR..sigpicMy IBA SS delayed.. Damn.. ;-(

I found this article on DOHC Vs SOHC. The author summarises in the end as "it doesn’t matter whether 4-valves is achieved via SOHC or DOHC." in the last line. Am not sure, how trustable is this, though.Originally posted by surya220 View PostDual Over Head Camshaft (DOHC) has better engine smoothness and refinement compared to Single Over Head Camshaft (SOHC).. But I have learnt, R15 is highly responsive at high rpms??Last edited by shivaprasad.ms; 04-01-2011, 01:07 PM.
