  • ^^ mindset of the people change as soon as they hear the tag of being imported. ..
Anyways, since the plan (as we understand) of Honda to to get bikes/parts exported from India to SA,LA and other places...i think the quality would be in part to the Thai machines, if not better. I sincerely hope so.

    • I just went to Saphire Honda and spoke to the CBR guy. Bad news again. According to him only 4 CBRs will be dispatched in the first lot. Rest are substituted by Unicorns. The dispatch will be today night and is expected to reach Bangalore by 20th. He said he still has to get RTO approval and it will take 2-3 days. So you expect to get your hands on it by around 25th. I am the 3rd booking from the showroom and the first ABS booking. So I expect to get it from the first lot itself if they dispatch a Red ABS in the lot...

      • Info on CBR dispatch

Talked to my friend at HMSI a few minutes back...

He said the Mass Production has begun already...

But there has been no dispatch till now. Atleast 2-3 days for the first lot dispatch.

But when I spoke to him couple of hours back, he said that first lot was already dispatched on 10th, which would be reaching Bangalore by 17-18th. Maybe the second lot is being dispatched tonight. I know I'm being too optimistic here.
And he also told me that they've already got RTO clearance. But he said, after the bikes arrive here, there'll be a local launch. That's the reason, it'll take 1-2 days more for the deliveries to start.

          EDIT:

Heh.. Why would i wanna do somthing like that.. Registration will remain PY even in bangalore.. I can still ride for a year without any consequence.. After which i will opt for just paying the annual road tax which many people do not know as existing...

I know, but if you look at it the other way, doesnt importing get you to pay higher tax, even if the vehicle is the same quality, maybe inferior as compared to Indian products? Anyhow, thats OT now. Lets all hope for the best.

Oh OK I am officially in panic mode. I have decided to go to Himalayas and meditate till they call me for CBR delivery. Firstly, the lot of 20 bikes, then reduce to 11 bikes, then 9 and now 4. Will the get atleast one bike, at least the display model?
You know what guys, I think the Saphire showroom doesnot know anything about the delivery of bikes and they are simply speculating.
I dont know, this is just my humble opinion. Are the dealers so ignorant, dont they know that their name is being discussed here. Next time I will visit the dealership and show him this page of XBHP and tell them, Guys, time to pull up your socks and give a single reply to all customers.

Firen, just double check on the same. Just a suggestion. Coz' AFAIK, there is no yearly tax in Bangalore/KA for that sake. Hope you do your calculations with sufficient buffer for money, because I seriously doubt about availability of yearly tax. My friend had tried the same thing, his dad was a lawyer and he went along with his Dad to RTO and found that he would have to pay a lifetime tax of 15k.
So do confirm on this before any decision. This yearly tax used to exist till a couple of years back, and applicable from Apr 1, 2009, they scrapped off yearly tax. All the best tho!!!
              Cheers!!!

They are still expecting the bike any moment now.. Deliveries in Pune will start only by the last week of April.
He also told me that mostly the first few lots will be of bikes manufactured in Thailand. Don't know how credible this information is though...
                  [...and the wait continues...]
yes that's right, the information is correct.. the reason for me booking it on Jan1sth was that.. Honda is importing 3000Bikes from Thailand and we are getting that.. a imported bike with no import charge and the date confirmed by Honda is 15th April and max 18th monday.. so lets wait and see..

In December i was talking to a Thai guy in one of the other forum who was saying Honda is planing to export few bikes since the production starts in India only by April. every dealer in India will be getting their first lot with bikes imported from Thailand and that's the importance of getting it in the first lot.

its no surprise .. its only logical .. as the production is yet to start in full capacity in india .. its the only way , if april launch is deadline.

Its the normal step taken by many companies , most of the first batch of the vehicles [cars & bikes ..] there is a possibility of importing ... as i remember R15 also been imported some small number of bikes and some engines when its launched..and the import cost not passed to customers

                        Now this is indeed news!
Though I can't think of a reason why Thailand made bikes should be considered 'superior' to the ones made in India. A company like Honda will make sure that its manufacturing facility anywhere around the world would be 'state-of-the-art'. My take? - too much of a speculation till now.. Let's wait and watch. Unless someone has gotten information from a credible source...

if you look at hondas new model bikes.. the first lot bikes last a lot better than the later ones, even the Honda unicorn had that same problem. the people who bought for the first 3months got imported bikes and all lasted a long time. but there is no proof on web.. but you can ask mechanics they will tell you the same. but anyway.. its a personal thing.. so leave it at that my friend.

                            • Last Saturday, 9th April, I dropped in to Silicon Honda in Banashankari 3rd Stage, Bangalore to enquire about the arrival dates. One guy, shocked me saying the bike was not even launched and the launch was going to happen in the end of April. To him the 'launch' was arrival of the bike in his showroom, I laughed at the ignorance of these poor guys and went to Mohseen, the branch manager. He told the bikes would arrive 20th onwards, and test rides would be given immediately. Deliveries to begin shortly after that. He said I would get a call 20th or later.
As I passed on down the street, I just visited Yamaha showroom on the same road (MSP Motoworld). One sales guy, Arun, who knew about my intention of waiting for the CBR and buy his R15 if I did not like the Honda, told me one of his customers took a test ride in Bangalore and that the CBR was not good. So the customer came to him the same day and booked R15. I asked him to call the customer because I wanted to talk to him to know where he got the test ride. Rest, he was only trying to escape with some excuses as he was busy, he would call the customer later and give me a call voluntarily etc etc.... Silly dealers, I thought

Cant predict future, but that DID happen with the R15...

How many here have seen the bike in flesh? Did you like the silver paint job on it?
