Mate its not a third rated company to see how the market is .. Its Yamaha !! They may buy time to develop the product but the question is will the consumers wait ? I am sure they will lose their market at that point of time ! And the whole point is this news is not even confirmed ! and I request the moderators to lock this thread even though we have reports from leading website's BUT Yamaha continues to deny it ! So lets hear it from yamaha itself !Originally posted by viraj_s85 View Post

Can anyone recall how much time Yamaha took from showing R15 pic/prototype till the official launch? Not saying that the company follows a timeline but just for the info. On the other hand if its really a new bike with just cosmetic changes, it should not have taken this much time. or is it indeed a new 250cc?Originally posted by payeng View PostSurprising why Yamaha is taking so long.www.motorcykle.in - The lighter side of motorcycling

6 Months: Showed in Jan 2008, launched in June 2008.Originally posted by pulsater View PostCan anyone recall how much time Yamaha took from showing R15 pic/prototype till the official launch? Back then (2008), the 6 month delay helped Yamaha by building up the hype/excitement. Till then middle class Indian bikers had to resort to shoddy aftermarket full fairings fitments for their Boy racer dreams. The R15 was kind of mindblowing back in 2008.
In 2011, with the Ninja 250R, CBR 250R (even the GT650R and soon Ninja 650R coming soon) available legally in India, things are very different. Guys are probably losing interest.

Yamaha is international & reputed company, they don't rely on hype nor excitement building !! A roaring RX in the street itself 'thumps' envy & excitement in every biker (if not Rossi/Lorenzo on ESPN). Japanese don't react, they will come back with some good strategy which will take some time. Honda's CBR is a result of years of efforts, it cannot be matched in days. Yamaha will come out with some thing unique for sure.Originally posted by payeng View PostBack then (2008), the 6 month delay helped Yamaha by building up the hype/excitement.

Those "imported" (fair sex) beauties on the R15/FZ prototye at the 2008 auto expo, had actually accidentally strolled into the Yamaha stall..
.. and then decided to pose in skin tights "voluntarily" just because they loved that Reputed International Japanese company so much

^^^ 6 months is a reasonable time for introduction of a product.
@Payeng: If you are assuming that a bike that is on display at an Autoshow is ready for rollout within a short time span (say a month or so) then you are sorely mistaken. For every new product, there is first a preproduction trial run, then a limited production run and eventually a production run that takes place. In between all of these come the changes and modifications to the production process and if required some design changes may also be required in the product itself to facilitate a more efficient production .
Once a production line is certified and a bike is in production, buffer stock needs to be built before the bike ready to hit the showrooms. Also a buffer stock of spares needs to be built. These need to reach about the same time the bike will reach the show room. There are lot of logistical issues that need to be solved.
Its not as easy as some of you are making it sound... Show me one bike which has been introduced into the market with deliveries in less than 6 months from the time of announcement. I bet you will be hard pressed to name one. The CBR has taken 8 months (announced in October 2010) to reach the market deployment stage.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Don't jump to conclusion.. you are better than some guys. When did I say that?Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View Post^^^ 6 months is a reasonable time for introduction of a product.

For your information. The Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi was first displayed in Jan 2006 and launched in mid 2007. I was one of the first guys to get one.
Its just that a couple of guys got "official' e-mails from the Yamaha India Back office telling them that a new R15 was due for an Jan/Feb launch.. which has surprisingly not happened.
At least there was an "Official" annoucement from Honda for CBR250R... but there is nothing "Official" from Yamaha. Even the back office now is backing off from giving further details.

Also most of you are not considering the other possibilities... during testing they have come across issues serious enough to put off any announcements till such time as those issues are resolved. The mails that people have received was faux pas by Yamaha... they certainly are not the first ones to get their foot in the mouth and they certainly are not going to be last ones...
Incidentally one of their biggest faux pas was claiming a 18,000 rpm redline on the R6 when it could barely reach 16,500.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Agreed.. where is the controversy over this? But there has to be an Official annoucement first, right?Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI am not jumping to any conclusions... I have simply pointed out that a 6 months time period from announcement to deployment is reasonable.

Please educate our dear Vipin_S on that..
[Like a Kamizaze pilot from the relics, he can't see beyond the Greatness of Japanese products and Problems with our Indian (specifically Bajaj) products]
But to their credit, Internationally Yamaha did offer to buy back those R6 from any customer who felt that they were unsatisfied with the product.

did they have a choice??? It was either that or get taken to the cleaners by virtue of the American legal system...

@TS
1. This is the 2011 model of R15 with a slight increase in bhp. I am kind of sure of this. With the recent launch of CBR and its huge following, Yamaha has stopped the production of new R15s and its plan is to stop with whatever productions it has made with new 2011 edition R15. Its planning something bigger like 200cc or 250 cc. To have a go with CBR 250r or Ninja 250r, it has to be R-series inspired. If its a fazer 250cc, to beat cbr or ninja would not be that easier.
2. Yamaha has its own way of launching bikes, remember it was all like a clandestine affair with R15. It just hit the Indian market and bike lovers all of a sudden. So, we have a bare chance to get hold of the pics or concrete news. But, its sure that some higher cc from Yamaha is hitting roads this June or July. And it would be R20 (for 200cc) or R25 (for 250cc). If its fazer 250cc, the R factor would find a long absence for sure.
3. If we talk about the price, R15 is way costlier if we try to draw a proportion between price and cubic capacity. But this high price tag really gets compensated with the superb performance of the baby machine. It really gave a tough run for so called higher cc bikes like p220, zma, zmr, etc. It really stimulated Bajaj to replace FI system with carburetor based p220 to beat R15 in terms of speed. Well, many Indians did forget the quality factor in their maiden way to tranquilize their hunger for speed. I am not making any offense. P220 is a rock solid bike but every other stuff has some merits or demerits. So, coming to the point now, if its gonna be R25, am sure it would cross 2 lakhs for sure. I remember the news during the launch of R15, the promoter said it would be really costly for Indian fans when he was asked why not a higher cc for India instead of just 150cc?
With the unexpected delay in CBR250R deliveries, am sure many will be drawn towards Yamaha if it comes up with a R25. Having ridden R15 for long, I would go for Yamaha any day leaving other brands aside.

Your bike is way better than babes, only thing is that you need a proper vision to mull over this fact. :D
