More or less agree with the above. But you forgot the model which has made HMSI number 4 in terms of sales in India i.e. the "Activa"

The "Activa" is to scooters in India what the "Pulsar" is to 150 and above cc motorcycles, and "Splendor" to 100 cc motorcycles. The Activa has a long waiting period of above 6 months everywhere. The 2'nd plant of HMSI has been set up to cater to this huge demand for the Activa. In automatic scooters, there is no doubt that HMSI is the big daddy.

All said and done, one should not underestimate Honda. Back in the 1980's there was a famous "Honda-Yamaha" war for Global dominance between the two gaints. Yamaha had to eventually accept defeat to Honda publicly and call for truce.

After its seperation from Hero, Honda is slowly building up its Production capability and also will grow its reach in terms of dealers. HMSI has stated that by the next 10 years (around 2020), it aims to be the number one in terms of sales in India.

no one's underestimating Honda..... they always had a great acceptance among the Indian crowd..... they just need to bring more good products rather than sitting idle on the success of a single product..... they kept on modifying Activa..... but what modification was done to Dio..... they have to be pro-active.....
Bajaj is trying and delivering good products..... will just have to wait for next gen Pulsars.....

& this are the waiting periods more or less

        shine--2-3 months

        stunner - 1-2 months

        dazzler--immediate delivery

        activa--6 months

        cbr 250-6-8 months

dunno if this translates only due to demand or honda are also in behind with respect to production capabilities

In Chennai, atleast at JSP, Dazzler's booking is closed because of 3 months delivery period.

I'm beginning to think its because of artificial demand rather than reality.

Honda is making lot of improvements ...and Twister/Stunner and CBR 250 is one of them...and not to forgot Activa/Aviator ....there products tells us what they are and capable of....

Look at CBR250...they don't required any partnership to build this...they make it alone....

i am sure in coming 1/2 years...Honda will rule here....as they do in Cars...

I'm not siding with BAL, but the point is, BAL WILL be there. In this country, ads are strong way of speaking about the product irrespective of the quality.
Bajaj is first afraid of losing coveted II position which it is holding since last 8/9 years.
BTW, Honda was first to bring 220 cc to India and not Bajaj, Bajaj took 4 long years to respond to Honda's 220cc. Bajaj's first 220 failed with fi. As everybody knows in recent past HH launched Fi and Bajaj went one step back & launched carb !! So,.. first Bajaj should take on HH's ZMR and match it if possible (which is a Honda bike) So Bajaj is still below Honda in 220cc segment !!

More than demand, i think they have slow down the production of these bikes (Shine and Stunner) as they dont have much demand...So if u want one, u have to wait.....they are trying to push Dazzler more than unicorns, so if one want unicorn...have to wait for 1 month..........I think honda is busy in scooter production as they have good demand......

Yes Honda was the one to bring 220cc to india, as they dont have 180cc segment ......so to push back P-180 series they came with 220 cc mill.....they succedded bcoz Hero was behind honda.........

They left twister to competate( splendor and passion)but not succedded even to there 20 % sales( In 100 cc segment)......So this says people believe more in herohonda than honda and hero believes more in honda than themselves.........

Hugely underestimating Pulsar brand, even 220 Fi. 220 Fi didn't sell because of price. The product was woth the money. Bajaj has done FANTASTIC job with Pulsar, particularly 220. It's one of best balue for money for product. HH ZMA sold intially. ZMR is no way near to competetion.
Pulsar is a brand in itself & other bike manufacturers can only dream of making a brand so strong as that of Pulsar in India

                        +1

India is a hugely price sensitive market. Even the Maruti Suzuki Alto was not selling well untill it's engine was changed from 1000 cc to the 800 cc of the Maruti 800 and its price was cut.

The result, the Alto is currently the best selling car in India.

The Pulsar is already considered as a "Legend".

                            All said and done.

But I know of only 1 manufacturer for whom public is happily willing to pay all money in advance much before the product is launched.

Activa was sold out before if was launched.
Honda Unicorn was all booked much before it was launched way back in 2004
and now CBR. People happily booked it 5-6 months in Advance without even seeing the bike in flesh.

That kind of loyalty is only ruled and enjoyed by HONDA.

I can forecast that this thread will be ballistic in no time. Loyalists from both the sides will write post after post and eventually this thread will be locked.

To each his own folks. If someone from Bajaj has commented over one of their competitors, let it be. Does Hero Honda pay you guys any loyalty bonus to defend? or for that matter, does Bajaj do it?

Please understand that the ultimate benefactor of this is us...the consumer. Competition improves the breed. Just the way Bajaj managed to pull manufacturers to deliver performance oriented bikes..or for that matter exposed the spending capacity of Indians when it managed to sell so many Ninjas..

Chillax guys, good bikes are just round the corner...and we are invited
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
