VTR - V Twin Roadster... the CBR is a single cylinder... You REALLy think Honda will build a new biker based on the VTR and sell it in India, (and be able to price it lower than the cbr?)Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more
Bajaj no longer competing with Hero, taking on Honda
Bajaj is planning to gear up in performance segment, as rajiv bajaj said they r planning to come up with duke 200cc, upgrading the pulsars to four valve technology, new design......So honda is the one which has best R&D, which can competate in the indian market....
As we know that HERO is relying on honda for technology, which is no more as they break apart, so hero has to come up with its own R&D in the future, which takes time...
..and once the name changes from herohonda to hero moto, eventually the sales goes down......
So Honda stays as the main competitor in the future for Bajaj......FEEL EVERY MOMENT OF BIKING.............. BIKING IS UNIQUE....
PULSAR - 180.....JUNE 2008 - MAY 2011
PULSAR - 220.....MAY 2011 - _ _ _ _

Building R&D takes time, if it was so easy and quick Bajaj would have been able to produce refined bikes in this 10 yrs period. Its a tough job for Hero ahead to develop good R&D before its sales start falling...

I hate it when fanboys turn a debate to a food fight. But if the food is nice it is fun.
Anywho for someone from advertising i think the ad is crappy, in concept and in deliverance. And i know why is that too.
Bajaj is fearing CBR 250.
And i can see why but what i can't figure out is why they are reacting like this.
Bajaj has many credits to it. A primarily scooter manufacturer who rode the wings of change to finally made it big in bikes.
And by all records they are doing well.
The trouble in life with all of them is their reference point is Hero Honda. And they forget Hero Honda is not a brand close to young people's heart. It is a cheap way to travel.
The pulsar might not be well built and all that but i think it has really kick ass engine. The sound, the kick the engine gives it is truly a very good value for money.
Those of you who say CBR 250 R, forget it is double the cost of a pulsar. Same way as Ninja is double the price of CBR 250R. The CBR has quality issues if you compare it with ninja. And so on and so forth. People forget that money dictates quality. No one here wants to spend more for quality and service. Heck we still ask mileage kitni hai. In fact the first thing even the service guys ask when i took the cbr 250R for first service was that and were shocked when i told them i didn't bother to calculate.
Lastly iconic brands are not always built on the quality of the product. Harley and the Enfields are not the most advance pieces of engineering out there, but they know they can get away with it because the charm with them is emotional and you know how emotions make you stick to your current girlfriend.
Pulsar, if not bajaj, has all the ingredients of being an iconic brand. It is what RX135 was for the previous generation. We all learned taming the corner on it. Just like the newer generation is learning on R15 and CBRs.
Where bajaj can go from here is only restricted by how big they can think. They can really do wonders for themselves and trouble Honda, but not by these ads. They have to be still as inventive as they were when they came up with Pulsar originally. And they are on their way, with partnership with KTM and new models lined up. I hope they will not be just cosmetic but will really be a leap. And i know honda has tremendous brand value but do not forget value for money is more important to us Indians than cheap or anything else. The Honda Jazz a brilliant car still does not sell enough.
All in all while it is really a case of crappy advertising but i think they are smart in targeting Honda. Because like someone smarter than me said "if you aim for stars you don't end up with a hand-full of mud."

They can bring in CB300R and price it around 1.2-1.4 lac. A decent looking naked bike which can be great for commuting/touring.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Postdo you want to bridge the gap in price or in cubic capacity?

CB300R specs:
single cylinder 4 valve 291cc Aircooled twin cam engine.
26bhp & producing 2.9 kgm of torque at only 6000rpm.
The best part is.. its only 143kg

Bajaj is lucky in many ways that it got KTM & Kawasaki for company!! even better is that it got Honda & Yamaha as competition. All in all, Bajaj is in a very good position, competing with Honda & Yamaha will benefit them a lot.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Are you buying a bike in India to participate in Moto GP?Originally posted by anush View PostHonda can't make bikes that's the most hilarious jokes i have ever read. Probably Bajaj thinks unicorn and CBR etc are scooters ha ha ha. And whose winning moto gp there. Leave Bajaj even Kawasaki doesn't stand a chance there.

You should be be proud that Bajaj, an Indian company is selling more than Japanese brands!
[IMG][/IMG]Originally posted by vipin_s View PostBajaj is first afraid of losing coveted II position which it is holding since last 8/9 years. BTW, Honda was first to bring 220 cc to India and not Bajaj, Bajaj took 4 long years to respond to Honda's 220cc. Bajaj's first 220 failed with fi. As everybody knows in recent past HH launched Fi and Bajaj went one step back & launched carb !! So,.. first Bajaj should take on HH's ZMR and match it if possible (which is a Honda bike) So Bajaj is still below Honda in 220cc segment !!
Whats the use of a thing which got nothing in it??
Karizma was just any other bike with a fairing and a powerful engine. Nothing new in it. at that time.
But when Bajaj Launched Pulsar 220 it had Tubeless Tyres, Rear Disc Brakes, Clip On Handle Bars, Split Seats, Digital Console, Fuel Injection, Projector headlamps, Oil Cooled Engine, Wide Rear tyres, etc. And these were first in any Indian bikes!
