And your point is? We are not talking about what happened long ago. Bajaj did fail in lot of their attempts or even all of them except with Pulsar and they made it big with Pulsar. So much so that, now a days people remember Bajaj as a company, which makes Pulsars. People forget about your failures once you start succeeding, Bajaj might have failed with lot of new products before Pulsar. But Pulsar's success over shadowed those failures. Even though Honda didn't exactly fail with Unicorn, they didn't manage a big success either. Activa over shadows everything else from Honda in sales (in India).Originally posted by anush View PostLong ago Bajaj was know for Chetak and had failed making bikes several times. And today Bajaj failed making scooters. And the same never happened with Honda.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Lets just wait and watch. Which company does what. And lets hope that the difference in sales figures between No.1 company and No.2 company be very small so that we as customers be benefittedOriginally posted by vrugonnab View PostAnd your point is? +1Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostYou need to develop good reading skills.. Rajiv talked about perception of Honda in Indian market, not about Honda's capabilities. Activa accounts for 40% of Honda's sales numbers in India. To put it the other way.. to masses Activa is synonymous with Honda.. while Pulsar is synonymous with Bajaj. In a way, what Rajiv said is correct, aam aadmi (not enthusiasts) recalls Honda as maker of Activa, not that of CBR250.. where as the moment you talk about Bajaj they remember Pulsar.
Who said Honda cant make bikes, It just says "Perception"...
Volvo manufacture very good cars, but common mans perception is that they can make only good busses (its not the same with higher class)....
In fact Rajiv Bajaj gave the true success "Mantra" to Honda, "Change the perception of ppl"...

I dnt remember the name of the guy but he flys in n out of this country everytime Bajaj changes anything in their R&D section. Hope somebody remembers who he is.Originally posted by anush View PostAre you talking about Glynn Kerr? I read long time ago in auto magazine about the development of Pulsar. I cannot remember the details, but the design originated from Japan.
If thats so, Honda is a Desi company coz so many Indians work for it...
Rather we should be proud that Bajaj is able to employ a brit and a brit selected an Indian company over other companies form developed nations...
Honda was established in 1948 and it does made a lot a failures in its initial stage. What matters is what it is now and what its potential is for future. And for Bajaj both the answers are "GOOD"Originally posted by anush View PostLong ago Bajaj was know for Chetak and had failed making bikes several times. And today Bajaj failed making scooters. If you want to know more read this: Welcome Failure
Honda Motor Company entered the US market in 1959 with its range of low-powered motorcycles. It endured failure after failure as it learned the hard way that little motorcycles popular in the Tokyo suburbs were not well received on the wide open roads of the USA. They eventually brought out a range of high powered bikes that became very popular. Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda said, ‘Many people dream of success. Success can only be achieved through repeated failure and introspection. Success represents the 1 per cent of your work that results from the 99 per cent that is called failure.’
Feel proud of good Indian companies, our companies are developing now and will take time to perfect, don't redicule them for small issues...
I my self ride a Yamaha and am waiting for my Honda (because both make good product). But i respect Bajaj and TVS for what they are doing is really great...Last edited by saurabh81; 06-19-2011, 02:39 PM.

Too bad Mr.Bajaj doesnt believe in this theory. Rajiv Bajaj believes in Mindgames and running his mouth on his competitors, saying things Like "Honda is only known to make scooters" Which is a ridiculous statement anyone can ever hear from a man who is set off to make a biking revolution(or atleast his fans think so) with the help of British/Jap/Italian engineers working on his products.Originally posted by saurabh81 View PostIndians dont buy bikes to race in Moto GP. While his statements may not be true, you can clearly say that "Bajaj is only known to make bikes". I was a huge fan of the OLD Bajaj Scooters myself when i was growing up. It felt like a quality product back in the day when Bajaj was known for Quality and not Quantity.
Btw a question: When Honda failed in the US back in the 50s did they have any joint ventures with any other giant bike maker back in the day or did they work their way up on their own?
As for the point of "Indians dont buy bikes to race in MotoGP"
Sorry to say but Indians do buy bikes with technology directly/indirectly derived from MotoGP bikes
The Deltabox Frame is one such example.
But i do know that most Indians arent much informed about the technology that goes into the bike and they complain about how expensive those bikes are just by comparing it on the basis of displacement.
For eg: 100000+ for a 150cc? Are they crazy! - a very common statement when the R15 was launchedLast edited by Nithesh; 06-19-2011, 03:40 PM.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Mr.Bajaj clearly said "there is a growing perception that Honda can make scooters only. Customers go to Honda for scooters and come to us for bikes. The perception is that Honda can't make motorcycles and we should maintain that perception".Originally posted by Nithesh View PostToo bad Mr.Bajaj doesnt believe in this theory. He meant the way common people think of honda in india. Do you believe people (not enthusiasts) know about MOTO GP and stuff? they dont. Lets get back a little in time...
How many bikes did Honda had in 100cc segment? none.
They had only 1 bike in 125cc segment. stunner is not even applicable for masses. ( For villagers and old persons/uncles)
& and only one bike in 150cc segment.
So they had only 2 bikes under production applicable to masses. Pretty good portfolio LoL
On the other hand in scooters they have been doing good. They literally own the scooter segment in India. So common people know them as ACTIVA makers. Just the way people think of BAJAJ as low cost VFM Motorcycle maker.
I fail to understand what is so offending in that statement.
Again this comment applies to masses. Not bike lovers like me and you.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostAs for the point of "Indians dont buy bikes to race in MotoGP"

I bet more than 90% of R15 owners dont know what is 'Deltabox'. They buy it for flashy fairing
. And I have heard some talk about 'Radiator'
. I remember I had to tell my friend who bought R15, that it has 6 gears.
He has been riding it for more than a week. Lolll

Can't put an exact % but yes, I would agree that majority of R15 owners wouldn't know what a delta box frame is.Originally posted by Wanted DoA View PostI bet more than 90% of R15 owners dont know what is 'Deltabox'. They buy it for flashy fairing

By the way I would be interested to know how many of those who have quoted MotoGP in this particular thread are really aware what Sarath Kumar has been up to in the 125 cc class this season. Or in fact how many of them have heard of Sarath Kumar at all.
Actually never mind.. don't bother.. Google Hai Na..

Its not that they cant make scooters.its just that bajaj dont want to make scooters.bajaj wants to be no 1 bike manufacturer..Originally posted by anush View PostSo it should be safe to say that there also a growing perception that Bajaj can't make scooters. An optimist is a person who sees a green light everywhere. Try asking R15 owners at Red lights. Calculate how many give you the right answer.Originally posted by payeng View PostCan't put an exact % but yes, I would agree that majority of R15 owners wouldn't know what a delta box frame is.
