+1! I agree to this. Pulsar would definitely be more "aam aadmi" type though ultra-modern. Add "pillion friendly" than the Duke!Originally posted by kaynmantis View Post

I was talking from the "Mango Man's" point of view. How many people do you think buy any vehicle in this country based on the gauges and performance figures?Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostIs that your assumption? apparently an illogical one, Bajaj will make sure that there is enough to differentiate between Pulsar & Duke, be it on equipment levels or performance levels, so that any tom, dick and harry can understand what they stand for. Pulsar was, is & always will stand for affordable performance, while Duke will slug it out with premium category i.e. CBR/R15. Why do you think they are going to produce a dud in terms of sales by bringing in competition from their own stables?
Did i even remotely suggest that the R15 and Duke belong to the same category?Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostCan't say exactly what category but Duke and R15 does not belong in the same category.
The Duke is a stunters delight whereas the R15 is a track delightGot a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Exactly!! Mango people buy bikes according to how much money they want to flaunt. Thats the reason people buy R15s and then curse the bike on day 1 that it doesn't pull as well as their old ZMA.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostI was talking from the "Mango Man's" point of view. If someone has moolah for the Duke, there is no way he would go for the Pulsar instead. So that way, the Duke need not worry.
I only hope that the new Pulsars do not lose qualities of the old one namely:
1. Being inexpensive to buy, keep and run
2. Being fast no matter what the terrain
3. Being steady in cross-winds
4. Excellent Illumination at night
5. Able to maintain a healthy cruise speed
6. Excellent tank rangeAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

The Katoom and the pulsars are two naked bikes that fall into the same "sports/peformance bike" category.Dont mean to sound harsh, but i can't remotely guess that you are using the exact same description to describe two different categories. Would I? Yes, I understand, sometimes what we meant isn't exactly what we said. This perhaps is one of those. Needless to mention, I do that often myself.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostDid i even remotely suggest that the R15 and Duke belong to the same category?

8. Offering more bhp per cc. Bajaj already offers 2 bhp more than hero and 1 bhp more than yamaha and honda in air cooled 150cc business.
9. And of course the throttle response.
10. oops can't forget comfortness too.

but then again the ug4.5 pulsar 150 boasts of a 15.06ps of power and considering the fact that these figures are from 150cc mill and that too a simple air cooled 2valver is a respectable figure and the highest in the category of air cooled 150cc sports commuters. And is the second most powerful 150 cc machine after the R15...as you all would be knowingOriginally posted by Naveen1985 View Postboth cbz and hunk are 14.4 bhp....i dont think pulsar engine produces 16.4 bhp of power....

lets hope that all those qualities get retained in the new pulsar and especially the original 18 liter fuel tank at least just to get that brawny and the most hooligan characteristic element of the classic twins back into the pulsar.Originally posted by antz.bin View PostExactly!! With FZ?It pumps around 14bhp,which is less than the pulsar 150.Then how it can be compared with Apache 160.We don't have any other 160cc bikes,so it falls under the 150cc bracket.Originally posted by Omid Adab View Postit talking abt 150cc then he is talking f the apache 150.... 160 u can compare with fzs... dont giv a post saying that its only 10cc coz even that can bring 1-2 bhp performance changes....
