    • Got to meet the Bajaj designer at a program. At first glance he looks like Liam Neeson! He has worked with BMW Motorrad for 20 years! Such a great person!

Talking about the design of the Pulsar, he said that the rear two led strips and the front two pilot lights are the best features of the design. They give it the identity. Also he stressed on the muscular design of the bike. Also talked about the speed lines in a design.

So it would be right to assume these features in the new Pulsar.

On a different note, Bajaj is determined to be the best. They have got some of the best European designers for their two wheelers and four wheelers departments. Yes four wheelers! Bajaj will have a car soon.

Any Tom Dick and Harry can differentiate between a fully faired sports/performance bike(R15) and a naked/semi faired street bike(FZ/Fazer).

They perform on two different levels.
Which "Tom-Dick-Harry" said that they don't?

Anyway for the multitude its more the "perception of premium/flaunt value" (eg: Fazer vs FZ-16, Karizma R vs Karizma ZMR) which justifies the difference in "price" for them more than the actual performance.

Eg: For the common man the Karizma ZMR is the Desi Hayabusa (more flaunt value) although the 20K cheaper Karizma R has the same performance (and more proportionate styling according to me).

          Too much guesswork/speculation.

          You have answered it yourself.

But I would steer away from using the "real" enthusiast tag to the guy who will opt for the Duke instead of the Pulsar. That would mean that no "real" enthusiast would go for the Pulsar.

I would simply put in this way that the enthusiast on a "budget" would go for the Pulsar (with the Pulsar hopefully keeping its VFM proposition) and the enthusiast with a "fatter bank balance" or the enthusiast with "more willingness to loosen his purse strings" would opt for the 200 Duke.

Also its not always about the enthusiast, its also about poser value.. which according to me is perfectly ok.. its normal human nature to be a poser.

Its an OT & will deviate topic even more. Though i would say that there are many points which justifies those 20k you spend on ZMR over ZMA-R..which includes
better performance (crisp throttle with FI & slight better pickup n top-end)
better Tourer (more comfort with IGRS suspensions, & reliability while touring on places of higher altitude by closed loop FI having lambda sensor)
better Fuel Efficiency (better for tourers & daily commuters)
better safety features (with rear disc,TL tires, bank angel sensor)
better resale value(for those who consistently upgrade to newer models)
+ more goodies & new refreshing looks(which many loved including me)..

as per the topic..new Pulsar will most probably come in 125/135cc n 200cc segments..
            Suzuki Gixxer - Current
            Karizma ZMR <3 - Sold
            Apache RTR160 - Sold
            Honda Stunner - Sold
            LML Energy - Sold

this is way OT.. almost same performance fits the bill here considering the money you need to spend for all the above mentioned better things. Let's stop this and get back to topic, which is new pulsar range.

I don't think Bajaj will introduce P125.. as it's not a big deal to design new head to make it P135. More over it doesn't make sense to bring in P125 as P135 is a success. So, in all probability they will refresh P135 with changes.

Bringing in a 125cc does make sense because the Pulsar range is spread across all cubic capacity ranges. A 125cc will attract many people who do not want to spend much on fuel expenses but still want some performance. The 135cc will have its own following which is mainly youth who want their bikes to compete 150cc bikes in performance and 125cc bikes in economy.
The 125cc variants if launched, will cater to the need of the common man who has always dreamt of owning a Pulsar but stayed away because of the price.

Bold part is exactly the reason why P135LS came into picture, there will not be a P125, period.

and this is the same reason what has been firming up my belief that the upcoming pulsar could be a 135upgrade /all new p150& 180 twins (remember twin attack back in 2002)

If I remember correctly, Rajiv mentioned in one of the interviews that the whole series is gonna be revamped.

And anyone who goes for a non bajaj/ktm motorcycle is not a real enthusiast? It's all about the attitude my fellow biker, not the brand!

Yeah and as per to Rajiv Bajaj in one of his interview with Bloomberg UTV earlier this year , he added saying - "Let's see if the New Pulsar 2012 is worthy being called a Super Bike .... For ME IT IS !!!! "

Seems there's certainly more in it than it looks right now !!

Coming from a person who has been churning only small capacity bikes, the definition of "Super Bikes" may somewhat be skewed. In this context, imagine Bajaj comes up with 1000cc bike, this guy will faint for loss of words.

New Pulsar, would most likely set a new benchmark in its category, my prediction is a 200cc(NOT duke engine). But describing a 200cc or less bike as "super bike"...gawd! that's stretching it.
