Logically speaking if this 2013 model is manufactured in Thailand[From where Bajaj imports Ninja 250R], there is no point in Kawasaki manufacturing the older model too. So my gut feeling is that this model should be available here pretty soon.

buddy, being in India, I will compare it to the model that is sold in India. So compared to the existing model sold in India the power and torque is down slightly.Originally posted by blizviz View Post

Ok then! But there wont be much difference in performance (0.5-1 HP out of 33 HP is minor). And i'm sure Kawasaki wont risk reduction in performance when the bike has gained weight and tyre width.Originally posted by bprags View Postbuddy, being in India, I will compare it to the model that is sold in India. Another point to note is that the 2012 USA Ninja 250R is also a carbed version. So its an upgrade for that market too!

Well,as Bajaj is no longer showing much concern over the brand Kawasaki,I dont see,any localisation or price drop in near future.Even if its priced the same as the older version,it would do well.
Now who is the biggest looser here????
Its the Hyusung GT250R....
Every thing, that Hyusung was flaunting about its bike,is now with Ninja(FI,Digi-console,Super sports look). Now Hyusung should seriously work on localising, and cut price. Its right time, they take advantage of the 'step motherly' behaviour of Bajaj twards Kawa.
Untill then,Ninja rules.......HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

It'd be great if Kawi break with Bajaj and enter directly like the other 3 Japs. Then they can sell their ZXs here as well. The problem is they don't have anything in the lower end(sub 200 bikes and scooters) which the Indian market drools over though.

The only reason Bajaj is not too intent upon Kawasaki is because of the margins - they are bound to profit more from KTM (almost half of which they own) and Pulsar twin platforms. The bike that could probably take the entire market by storm next early next year is the Pulsar 200SS.
Ontopic:
Since the Ninjas are brought here via CKD route, I think it'll mostly mean either an immediate upgrade or the older bikes could be sold till stocks clear at the Thailand factory and then the upgrade could occur. Prices would most likely remain somewhere around the same level or could see a slight increase, but as you said the biggest loser is the Hyosung GT250R.Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

Along the same lines, Kawasaki sure has iconic products, but they are not for the mass market!Originally posted by MHG View PostOfftopic:

And they wont be able to match the sales volumes of big players like Hero, Honda, Bajaj, etc since they dont have products in that category (nor does it seem that they are intent on developing a mass market product)!

But I think the Kawks wont officially reveal their product unless their top management have carefully assessed of the Current stock levels..
However, having said that I have a hunch that the new model will come to India, by late 2013, or on 2014.(and the spl editions will surely be not available by then.)
About Hyosung, I have read that they are planning for localization of their parts in India, within a Span of 18 months or so. Hopefully the 2013 ninja news will make them seriously think about this plan for quick implementation.

Went to Hyosung with my friend, and it was awesome from front! Really it has great looks of GT650r... My friend booked it and will get the delivery with in 1 month. But i see people are actually liking this GT250r, my friends booking number is 223 in Thane showroom. Booking made at Rs 50,000/-Originally posted by Shibadip View PostVeryy, very correctly said.

OTR is around 3.10L
apart from liquid cool i was happy to see this bike, i changed my mind! Kawasaki is indeed a nice product but don't think GT250r is any far behind. My friend just booked it because he loved dual disc in front/Projector lights/sports riding postion/ and V twin cynlinder with that killer looks. He was not all interested in Ninja, where as i was forcing him to Ninja. But he said "Dost isse dekh to!!".
I too liked the bike!!

My friend , if someone says bad about some thing it doesn't mean that its actually bad, everyone has there requirements and according to that they choose there bike, even with new Ninja i may not be buying it , coz its not about how one's bike heritage is , its all about how you feel riding it. and being more race oriented person i like more GTR than Ninja coz of its big bike feel and race riding position. and if some one like my requirement choose ninja then its bad bike for him its simply doesn't match his intrestOriginally posted by somen1984 View PostWent to Hyosung with my friend, and it was awesome from front! . its something like try to force a tourer/cruiser guys to buy either CBR or NINJA they straitaway park your suggestion a side they still go for bullet or cruiser ..its as simple as that ... now don't tell me Ninja and GTR are the same league
and about GTR take a test ride you will know how smooth it is and refined and in B'lore the Booking numb are around in 70+ as per last week.
the biggest happy thing in new Ninja for me is Digital console and Headlight design

If BAL release the 2013 ninja 250 in late 2013 or early 2014, its near the time when they are also gonna launch KTM moto3 inspired 350cc bike which currently judging the duke 200 i think may be priced between 3-3.5 lakh. And if it happens then it will surely make a dent in ninja 250 s sale within their house (though the ktm will be single cylinder but 350cc!!!!). So bajaj should release the ninja as early as possible and sell as much as ninja they can.

Well, I have news that the Kawks also have plans to launch a moto3 inspired 350cc bike. I guess BAL wont bring that in India.Originally posted by Nilhawk View PostIf BAL release the 2013 ninja 250 in late 2013 or early 2014, its near the time when they are also gonna launch KTM moto3 inspired 350cc bike which currently judging the duke 200 i think may be priced between 3-3.5 lakh. But, ya what u said about the Duke thing is also correct, and BAL will surely keep that in mind as well. Now if AutoCar is to be believed (Expect the 2013 Ninja 250R to ride into India some months from now.), the Hyosung's dream will be certainly over!!:P
BTW, the attached Pic says only the Special Editions have ABSsigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

How I wish Mr. Rajiv Bajaj shared the same sentiment. How I wish he were a fan of Japanese inline-four superbikes.Originally posted by payeng View PostBeautiful!!
Funny, how I was starting to think that my interest for full faired bikes were over.
At the end of the day be it Hyosung or Kawasaki, it should make you feel good.
How long are we going to suffer the ordinary bikes and see other countries happily enjoy big and beautiful bikes? If Hyo or Kawa makes you feel like your dream superbike ride, go for it. No point in suffering. Just go for it.
