What ever they do,it is us who are going to loose ultimately. How much is the country going to save by using this ? Did they find out how much money is going to be spent on extra repair and maintenece of engines ? How will the old tech engine with low compression react to this ? Who can guarantee if too much ethanol is added to petrol to increase profits ? Will it decrease oil change interval ?
Ethanol is proved to decrease engine performance, fuel economy and corrosion of engine parts.Last edited by shoeb2015; 11-25-2012, 05:34 PM.

"The first commercial vehicle capable of running on pure ethanol was the Ford Model T, produced from 1908 through 1927."

due to restriction on number of characters to 1000 in all the comment fields, i have to post 2 comments on each site. these sites are also moderated, so it will take some time for comments to be visible. if you can not see the comments immediately, wait for 24 hours, and check again.
i have done my part, i would request you guys to also post comments.
apart from these i have written to editors of various newspaper sites like "the hindu" & "indian express".
everybody should do his part. lets raise the awareness levels.
Edit:
Ethanol production in India has an advantage as its production could potentially leave sugar prices unaffected. Further, by blending petrol with 10 per cent bio-fuel, 80 million litres of petrol could be saved annually in the country.
plz post as many comments as possible.
and also on facebook-->

Let us first build awareness here in xbhp.. Many of them would not even know this news here!! Sincerely would request the mods to do some advertising about this in xbhp.. A big pic or something in the home page would do!!Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthanks...it seems very less ppl are interested in helping a real cause.

Initially I was about to make a bike purchase sometime around early Jan, though my usage pattern shall reduce from 60km/day to 10km/day from feb permanently. Now I'm feeling the shivers thinking about what could happen if whatever I purchase isn't ready for E5 fuel. Thinking of waiting it out till I get a clearer picture or better, get myself a spanking new 0-bhp vehicle.
BTW, aren't the auto manufacturing companies lobbying against this move ? Are they confident that their newer products are fully capable of handling E5 fuel ? I've not seen any press release by ANY auto company so far putting forth their views on the issue. And are private players like Shell allowed to sell the "normal" 91-octane pure Petrol ? I'm lucky enough to have lots of Shell fuel stations in whatever route I commute in.....Currently without a vehicle. Uber App and Bangalore Metro serving all my travel needs.

I have said this before somewhere and I will point it out again. Shell does not have any refining and blending capabilities in India. In short, it does not have a refinery. It buys its fuel from the companies that have refining and blending capabilities. Traditionally, Shell has been closely associated to Bharat Petroleum, since Bharat Petroleum was Shell in India before it was nationalised. Today, Shell in India is simply a distribution company, while they have plans for setting up of refinery but it seems to have been put on hold due to current government policies.Originally posted by MHG View PostAnd are private players like Shell allowed to sell the "normal" 91-octane pure Petrol ? Now, coming to your query on whether the 5% Ethanol will be applicable to private players, the answer in one word; 'YES'. This will be a G.R. (Government Regulation) that will be applicable to all players in the petroleum refining and distribution industry.Last edited by abhimanyu31; 11-30-2012, 01:54 PM.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Is the bold highlighted part one of the reasons for having costly per liter price at shell bunks? I thought they use to have their own refinery.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI have said this before somewhere and I will point it out again.
