    Exactly.

So, the world is catching up to Pulsar. With NS , it was a game changer for Bajaj.
    So, lets see it goes.

Even the Japs took a lot of time, engineering and R & D to get there.

Whatever it is, they should change the name which will also increase the number of products in the coming years and people will see different bikes from Bajaj other than Pulsar.
Do you buy products based on its name?

      At least i don't!

Bajaj has already made clear that they will focus on two established brands - In Sports Segment - Pulsar and In Commuter Segment - Discover.

I don't see any problem with this strategy.

As said above by other members many companies follow this strategy like Ninja/CBR, etc.

I think we should focus on what the product offers and not on what it is called.

        Fair enough.

But, the big fishes have many other products to display and sell. Bajaj only has Pulsar and Discover, etc. If they change the new bike's name, it will only increase their product base and also create more awareness globally.

Do you see Ducati/Kawi/Honda/Suzuki with just 1 or 2 brand names? No, that's because they give out more options in every segment with different bikes/names and not stick to 1 brand name.

You guys are wasting your time in discussing about brand name.....there are CEOs n Director in Bajaj to decide..

Dear why dnt you drop a mail to bajaj for this.

Maybe they can reply in a better way.

If bajaj wants to play with two brands its their decision.

You like it then take it else ignore and move on.

Dont know what is the need to discuss such things in a thread that is meant to dicuss about a upcoming bike.

Hehe.. Agreed no point banging our heads about brand names but just a thought which lingered in my head for quite some time. So thought of discussing it over here.. :P

well the latest on gixxer specs is this
"Gixxer will feature a single cylinder 155cc air-cooled engine with SOHC (Single Over Head Camshaft). Maximum Power produced will be 13.9 PS and peak torque will be 13.4 Nm. Air-fuel mixture will be supplied by a carburettor

Don't know how they are planning to put it against FZ (and others)....for me it dosen't even stands a chance in front of pulser 135.

FZ-16 currently produces 14 PS and 13.6 Nm. So the difference isn't huge. According to the Bike India article posted in the R25 thread, the FI FZ isn't going to get any power bump. BTW, performance was never a strong point of the FZ. Its USP was looks and smooth engine. Still the newer FZ will have FI as an advantage. If the Gixxer is priced similar to the FI FZ, the choice will be obvious.

Well, I don't think it is fair to compare Gixxer with P135. Yes, the power and torque figures are on par with the FZ if not higher, but that doesn't mean it will be less powerful. In fact, this is what I expected in the first place. Remember, it should be competitively priced in India (I expect it to be priced in the range of FZ) and for that to happen carb is the way to go. And Suzuki claims better FE (it better be higher than that of FZ, else I doubt it's success). All this put together, I think expecting anything astonishing from this little motor would be a sheer disappointment. Compare it with FZ and Trigger (although Trigger is the one which falls short on power and torque comparatively) and I think Suzuki has a motorcycle with decent sales figures up in it's sleeves.

It's not easy to build a brand like pulsar overnight. Bajaj knows that well that's why they created that little video to pass a message on its 10th anniversary.

While keeping the pulsar brand, bajaj can create a new productline for.bigger bikes particularly the ones based on the middle weight twin engines ktm -bajaj is working on.

Would love to put my points across further. But, since this is a Pulsar350/375 thread, some people don't like this conversation over here.

Called up Bajaj showroom after reading an article which stated "pulsar 200ss booking to be started soon". Don't remember the source. But Bajaj dealer here as well confirmed that very soon they will get "Pulsar 200ss" and booking would start.

Frankly i am getting bored of these spy pics. But as long they are tested as much as possible to iron out all niggles its fine.
I guess Bajaj is targeting a launch during the festive season but i hope the bike is launched ASAP.
