Staying true to their word, Honda recently introduced the Dio, Activa and Aviator scooters with revised engine technology. There’s now news the next Indian Honda is going to be the CB150R streetbike, set for launch in just a few days, in February 2013.

The CB150R was first seen at the Jakarta Motorcycle show late last year, and is purpose built to suit Asian markets. This is a naked version of the CBR150R currently sold in India, inspired by the impressive CB1000R superbike. The CB150R houses the same engine as used by the CBR150R, a four-stroke, 149.4cc, liquid-cooled and fuel-injected engine that deploys a six-speed gearbox. Minor engine tweaks have been carried out to suit the new role, the CB150R generating 16.8bhp at 10000rpm, with peak torque being 1.33kgm at 8000rpm.

The CB150R uses a similar frame and front and rear suspension as the CBR150R, deploying a monoshock at rear. Ergonomics are altered and upright as expected on a streetbike, for better comfort.

The 150cc class is a hotly contested space in the Indian market, with every bike manufacturer putting their best foot forward in their attempt to gobble up more market share. The CB150R makes good sense for Honda to bring to India, and should prove an agile, refined and sporty motorcycle capable of urban commutes, with some measure of thrill offered on the open road.

Honda needs to price the CB150R affordably though, given the CBR150R is overpriced.

It doesn't use the same frame as the CBR150R. Its frame is more similar to the one of CBR250R.

Anyway, many reviews of this bike are out in the Indonesian media. Indian bikers will have some idea of how the bike is like.

Great news. Specs are promising, but there is no fire look-wise. Design is very commuterish. Hope it has O-ring chain, a pass switch, O-ring chain, and an engine kill switch. And pilot lamps too.

Orange one was just for an Auto Show.. it isn't the final production one.
The "non" orange colored ones are the actual production models.

Honda CB150R Streetfire looks promising... like the Indonesia gadis (chicks) it is priced at Rp 22,350,000 indonesian rupiah which translates roughly to Indian Rupees Rs 1,22,324.46. as of 1 feb 2013. This might probably be the CB Unicorn Dazzler replacement here in india. i wish they name is as CB150R Streetfire hear as well...which sounds cool.

I am lured by their other offering also... CBR250R Repsol Edition and Black Night Edition which might also make it to our shores.

They should probably consider PCX 150 and Vario 125 for india...

^ The 250R Repsol and the Black edition are 2013 colors. They are to be dispatched from the factory sometime post March/April and will go on sale later this year.

Looks are meh TBH. They could have done a lot better to honour the CB tag it carries. Even the 2008 FZ16 looks way better.
