Top speed will hover around 170 only. In terms of mechanicals its no different from the Duke speed. In RC you can sustain that top speed for a much longer period of time because of much better wind protectionOriginally posted by ajaykatke2005 View Post

Forget the Specifications/Top speed/Handling (enthusiast's blah blah)..
With the kind of aggressive looks, attitude, street presence plus "expected pricing", the RC 200/390 looks like would create/grow the segment that CBR250 initially promised has not really converted into decent numbers.
>> CBR250R doesn't seem to make sense (even with a 300 cc engine/revised updated styling), except maybe for Extreme Die Hard Honda Loyalsts (and please not that "Touring" logic once again)
>> The R15, CBR150R and probably the "to be launched" Pulsar SS200 would survive because of its lower pricing
>> Ninja 300 will remain a niche because of its high pricing.
>> Royal Enfield shouldn't have a hiccup as their products are totally differentiated (even if pricing could overlap)
>> Mojo..?? Well...
P.S:
>> Makes me wonder whether there is really a place for the Pulsar SS400 in terms of pricing
>> The Pulsar CS400 because of its differentiated proposition could find a niche though.

Honestly both the CBRs should sale at 20% less price than they are currently selling atOriginally posted by payeng View Post>> CBR250R doesn't seem to make sense (even with a 300 cc engine/revised updated styling), except maybe for Extreme Die Hard Honda Loyalsts (and please not that "Touring" logic once again)

I agree, CBR250 was selling as there was no other options in the market. CBR is still a practical option for a commuter due to its negligible maintenance, Comfort, smoothness and fuel economy(Its totally a Fill it- Shut it- Forget it bike). It has its own short comings though- Bad fit and finish, Unreasonably pricey, Bad ASS. The quality of Honda is no match to that of Yamaha(Except the engine block ofcourse, which is ultra reliable). Hence CBR 150R flopped miserably.
As for Pulsar SS and CS, both will find takers. Me being one potential customer of the Naked Beauty.HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Re: KTM RC 200 & 390 Launch, on 9 September, 2014, deliveries from October: xBhp News
underneath, the heart is still the same duke 390. So additional top speed is only due to the aerodynamics. That too despite putting on additional weight due to the fairing.Originally posted by ajaykatke2005 View PostNice pics..
I think 175 is low for RC 390 I hope it could do at least 185 - 190 Km speed
The only way it is able to achieve higher speeds with the same engine and more weight is by a taller gear. I hope the first couple of gears are not longer than the duke. That would make it boring. The 6th on the duke is already too tall. Anything below 65 and it will start shuddering. I'm guessing the 6th is much taller on the RCLast edited by Cyrus_the_virus; 08-31-2014, 08:45 AM.

This bike is damn sexy man... Easily the best looking bike IMO..
As for top speeds, its not just reaching 180, higher the top means the bike will reach high cruising speeds more quickly and less stressfully.
Besides its not that in India you can't ride at 180, true you can't sustain that for long distances but you can always enjoy short bursts.
On Pune Sholapur highway I recently rode consistently above 140 for over a hundred kms. For long stretches I cruised above 165 too. I was lucky to find the highway empty, but the point is you can enjoy high speeds in India even though not frequently...

As per motorbeam, the KTM RC 200 will be priced at Rs. 1.72 lakhs (approx) while the RC 390 will be priced at Rs. 2.40 lakhs (approx) (all prices on-road, Delhi).
Meanwhile the Duke 200 is priced at Rs. 1.52 lakhs while the Duke 390 is priced at Rs. 1.96 lakhs.
The price difference between the Duke 200 and RC 200 is Rs. 20,000/- but the price difference between the Duke 390 and RC 390 is Rs. 44,000/-.

Even 170 is plenty in my opinion.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostWhere in India would you guys ride at 185+ speeds :/
But the bike looks sexy..
But a higher top speed helps us to cruise with the engine relatively unstressed.

I'd rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

I dont think it covers the headlight. Its a higher windshield . Nothing else. The first bike in the pic is race model without headlights. You can see higher windscreen on the second bike as well.Originally posted by Ghostface View PostAnd according to the press kit, we get windscreen "racing bubble" as part of the power parts. That's the first the thing going into my bike... no more weird headlight
Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

The windscreen looks the same to me. Hoping this bubble thing exists and covers the head lamp area which in turn means more aerodynamics in the front.--
