I am guessing, it should be priced anywhere around 3L OTR. We should come to know about the price 2 months from now and expect to see the bike on road around January.

If DSK gets its equation right, they will pose a serious challenge to Kawasaki, KTM and Honda.

Benelli as a company folded half a decade ago iirc. Qianjiang group owns and runs them now.

As a result:
The BN 300/600 series bikes are made in China.
The BN 600 series inline 4 uses an engine based on a pre 2005 R6 mated to a knockoff Aprilia Shiver 750 frame. Think of it as a Chinese replica of a cbr250r or those Rousers or that Duke ripoff. Question is, are you willing to shell out 5 lakhs for a Chinese made knockoff model?

AFAIK the bigger 1130cc variants come from Italy. Not sure about the 899s though. Mainly because all the bikes share similar engine and frame and are built on order there, therefore carrying a premium price. The plant in Italy is run by the Qianjiang group aswell.



What Qianjiang is doing with the Benelli name is that they are mixing Chinese models with Italian made models to make the bikes more acceptable to the world market. While Benelli went out of business due to higher price tag and reliability problems and due to increasing competition in Europe from the Japanese, Qianjiang is doing the reverse of it by pricing the volume bikes competitively to create a market buzz and then bank on bigger displacement bikes for a premium.

Its a smart move and by the looks of people calling the Keeway models as Italian, i think it worked well for them.

Whoaaa...is this for real..I mean..we know Chinese products are looming across the world. I was under assumption that QJ just own the firm and Benelli is the one producing them still. Man, I am taking another blow to my head.

These are the approximate prices as quoted by DSK-Benelli dealer (ex-showroom Pune). The booking amount stands at Rs 50,000 which is fully refundable in case of cancellation.

I spoke to the showroom incharge, He says the tentative price of TNT 899 is 8L (ex-showroom), but subjective to change.

Showroom in chennai is due to open next Thursday, Believe me, Already 10 bikes has been booked. 7 TNT 300 and 3 600i. The bikes are going to be seen in flesh for the first time in the Southern part as part of the Thankyou ride.

Been reading reviews of Benelli bikes. Not good. Looks like the Chinese have take a massive dump on the brand.

Its the 300 and 600s that are "Chinese". The 899 and 1130 models are Italian made although last i heard the production was still supervised by the Qianjiang group both for China and Italy. Regardless Benellis were not high on reliability index. Its one reason why the Jap 4 took over Europe and ran them into bankruptcy in the first place. Benelli was charging too much for too little when competition was far more advanced for far less money.

I hope the people that have booked without waiting for more info get their money's worth. Hope Benelli will extend warranty to atleast 2 years in India unlike the African markets where warranty on the 600cc bikes was 10,000 kms or 1 year.

Not all things made in China are un-reliable. Iphones and Inazuma's are good examples of that. Yes, Benellis were not great in reliability, lets give them a chance here.
