  • Re: Yamaha Starts Dealer Training For R25

So people are expecting CKD quality in the price of a locally produced bike, from a company which is not exactly known for its aggressive pricing. Interesting

EDIT: Anyways let's not be too focused on the price. A good product will sell at high price, and a bad one will flop at cheap price. Waiting for the initial reviews in India now.

I think what people are trying to say is, since it is Yamaha that will be localising few components on R3 we can expect quality levels to be good (if not at par with full CKD products from the stable), unlike your KTM's (no offence). Knowing Yamaha, they do have a record for impeccable quality in India.

I think localisation will be restricted to fairing, plastic and rubber bits initially. Hence, we can expect Yamaha to price R3 competitively. But, as you say, Yamaha's are not known for aggressive pricing, hence we should keep our fingers crossed. I feel we finally have an option for buyers who want a quality offering, and had only Ninja 300 so far to contend with.

Yamaha is not even known for announcing whether they will be putting CKD unit or CBU unit for next product.
          Same goes for R3.
Until now it was R25 which was in news, and now when its quite confirmed that R3 is coming then how come this CKD and CBU setup has come into being.

Keep calm and keep waiting bit more until they come up with final launch. After all they are master of no sneak peaks.

I kind of second him. KTM does not also match Yamaha in terms of R&D expertise even if we talk of its parent manufacturing base outside India. And with Bajaj finding itself associated, the quality, for sure, goes for a toss which is why people from other countries find it timorous to own India made KTM bikes.

Looks like the Indian Biking industry is going to be haywire for a while with so much choices and making people utterly confused where to land. Atleast there is a clarity now for R3.
