Xplod566's ordeal has been very well documented in the AS200 ownership thread. He got so fed up of fixing the issues that he sold and bought an Duke 200.
So no surprises here, TBH.

Also the Apache 200 is Air / Oil cooled. If only this bike had Liquid Cooling and a 6th Gear, it would've been THE bike to recommend in the 200cc space, over the RS / AS.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostThat's the biggest disappointment or else a legacy perfect bike
Most criticize Bajaj for evident Cost-cutting in their bikes, TVS too should get a lot of flak for unnecessary and inexcusable Cost-cutting measures such as not providing a 6th gear and lack of Liquid-cooling.

Yes these were basics.even Bajaj in their as has all those things and still costs around 1.10 onroad Bangalore.Originally posted by Retro View PostAlso the Apache 200 is Air / Oil cooled. The bike in this case simply doesn't need a liquid cooler. The engine doesn't heat up ad much, take the compression ratio into consideration i.e 9.7:1 and 11.X:1 in the case of AS/RS/NS. Duke is over 13.X:1 which is pretty much why it needs a liquid cooling system.Originally posted by Retro View PostAlso the Apache 200 is Air / Oil cooled. As for the oil cooler, if it keeps the engine heat in control its more than enough.

True cuts the price down and does the job tooOriginally posted by xplod566 View PostJS16 just a general thought.Even as doesn't heat at all, infact it hardly heats.oil cooler was introduced for Cost cutting as confirmed by tvs

I completely completely disagree with this, I have a pulsar 220 which has compression ratio of 9.5:1 which is lesser than new apache and 220 also has an oil cooler similarly, but when you thrash the bike inside city the engine heats up and response of the bike lowers. The situation is pronounced in case of stop and go traffic where there is negligible to nil air flow. A performance oriented bike definitely needs liquid cooling to sustain its higher performance over a varied conditions.Originally posted by JS16 View PostThe bike in this case simply doesn't need a liquid cooler. Yes..true...the term is performance oriented bike..maybe this Apache isn't for performance as we think. A performance bike truly needs a liquid cooling.Originally posted by road_ripper View PostI completely completely disagree with this, I have a pulsar 220 which has compression ratio of 9.5:1 which is lesser than new apache and 220 also has an oil cooler similarly, but when you thrash the bike inside city the engine heats up and response of the bike lowers. Re: Launched: TVS Apache RTR200 4V @ 88k and Victor for 49k
Apache has always shown that their bike is all about track racing, but i feel its mainly a commuter. The torque band shows so.But its the only india brand who has a very good Product Quality and a gem of an engine.
Let me tell you guys a funny store. On my previous company one of my colleague had an apache 180.He used to complain that his bike doesnt cross 117.After a lot of QnA he told that he wished his bike had a 5th gear.I was shocked and told him that 180 has 5 gears. That shwne he realised it.haha.Ironly is that he completed 28000 kms without even going to 5th gear, but engine was in good state .That shows how good the engine is.

Mate, it's not anyone's problem if Bajaj's bike doesn't perform well after thrashing you know. TVS is smart enough to engine a bike for 2years and make sure it doesn't have any issues regarding the engine and other components.Originally posted by road_ripper View PostI completely completely disagree with this, I have a pulsar 220 which has compression ratio of 9.5:1 which is lesser than new apache and 220 also has an oil cooler similarly, but when you thrash the bike inside city the engine heats up and response of the bike lowers. Just like bajaj's and it's sister brands have issues with the chain not necessarily even TVS has to have it. And yes, i hope you know the higher the compression ratio the higher the heat generation.
Coming to the commuter part, it's astonishing how TVS's "commuter" bike is as fast as Bajaj's best bike. Imagine what will their track focused bike will be like to ride? It'll do circles around that I guess

Re: Launched: TVS Apache RTR200 4V @ 88k and Victor for 49k
So many things been said without even riding the bike or even seeing it in person.
My request to all is, let the bike hit the road, let the bike do the talk!!
So far the reviews are good from auto journalists!Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012
Yamaha R15 V2(LE white) 2012 and Honda Dio V2 Matte

TVS have themselves said that opting for an Air / Oil Cooled system over a Liquid-cooled one used by its competition was a Cost-cutting measure.Originally posted by JS16 View PostTrue cuts the price down and does the job too
What about not providing a 6th gear? Can you justify that?

Re: Launched: TVS Apache RTR200 4V @ 88k and Victor for 49k
For all those gurus here please guide me to the link where it is said a performance has to mandatory have liquid cooling?
And tvs, yamaha and Honda atleast does there one make race on tracks, what are others doing? Terming the road as the track in their advertisements.
Stop speculating and wait when the ownership follows.
Request to mods to close the thread as it will only lead to brand wars and no fruitful posts.Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
