Design wise the bike looks good. But the omission of ABS is a big negative.
But for 250CC engine 20bhp is bit less. Xtreme 200/Karizma got negative remarks for their low bhp, not sure how this 250 cc mill gonna receive comment. i was expecting more with around 25bhp ( CBR ). Though the engine is more torquey, but the inclusion of 4 valves and 5 more bhp would have taken the bike to the next level. But i think for 2 valves it is safer with 20bhp without ruining the engine.
The handling is sure gonna be a stellar considering the current FZ 16 .
Clearly this is meant for FZ 16 owners those who are looking for an upgrade but imo garbing new customers wont be happening much. But anything can happen, lets wait and see.

As of now the only advantage over Apache 200 is the bigger mill.

I'm surprised to see people still complaining about the lack of oil cooling. What is an oil cooled engine? It has an oil cooler to cool the oil, the engine is primarily air cooled only, oil when cooled (in its oil cooler) is circulated back into the engine. ZMR, P220 etc are prime examples. Oil cooling is a gimmick! Get over it!

The official specs seem to suggest "Air Cooled", and that could be deal breaker for many of us including myself! Also, 5 gears, not 6 - seems to be competing with RTR 200, NS 200 and likes. I would have preferred higher price with oil cooled, 6 gears and ABS. I understand ABS might be introduced later though. I sort of like the naked looks, will be watching this closely and see if CBR 250 gets an update!

I agree. But IMO having oil cooler is better in heat management than simple air cooler. The extent of benefit might be less, but still there is a benefit.
But yamaha managed this by using short stroke low revving engine. So oil cooler might not be a bigger deal.

EDIT : YAMAHA FZ25 has oil cooler.

It has an oil cooler, if certain pics are to go by. Look under tank scoops. I think there is a cooler present.

The RE classic/bullet/thunderbird has got 5 gears as well.. heck it doesn't even have Tubeless tyres.

That doesn't hurt the balance sheet of Mr. Siddharth lal

I guess triumph bonny was also coming with 5 speed gear box only. BTW ratios matter more than number of gears.

That might not be an issue. High torque and long gears would take care of that. Moreover this is not high rev machine

Agree, but RE not the best manufacturer to follow when it comes to features. Yamaha was supposed to bring out competitor to CBR 250 in naked version. I absolutely love looks of FZ bikes, I am still considering it - but IMHO 6 gears and few more features with higher price tag would have made it much more desirable.

                                So much complaining started

No active cooling like Liquid Cooling where a cooling fans regulated the temperature.

Oil cooling is just a small radiator that circulates oil which is cooled by the ambient air ONLY. No active cooling fans there. Hence, Its AIR COOLED. But it HAS A OIL COOLER!!

Weight has been kept low (though not as low as KTMs), hence lack of power might not be felt much (Just like FZ Fi with just 13.1 BHP), Ofcourse its not gonna be a REDLINER like an R15.
IT IS NOT A TRACK TOOL!!! But it will make more power than R15 any given day.

Bigger engine making lesser power means relaxed Engine (Like Bajaj Dominior, Karizma etc). Makes sense for touring. Though A Semi - faired version would be better in such case.

Only a race tuned Liquid Cooled engine can be tuned to make maximum power (like KTMS, R15 , CBR) as heat management is in a different level with Liquid Cooling. No amount of Air / oil cooling can achieve that.

For people who tour with a 100 - 150cc machine, this will be a good upgrade. For other performance hungry folks, I don't think it makes much sense as many 200cc makes more power than this.

6 gears not required on roads for street use or touring use. more gears helps when you want the machine to be in power band all the time ... like race tracks.

And I don't know who came up with the idea of riding modes in a single cylinder 250cc. LOL

ABS, thats totally a miss on this machine. Lets hope that atleast comes up as optional in the future.

I am waiting to test ride this motorcycle
