This is how I see it, Yamaha has a big gap in between the FZ16 and R15.

Seeing the spec sheet tells me that Yamaha wanted to pull the lost customers(who went towards Suzuki Gixxer) who had their heart-broken after finding the new FZ16-FI being low powered with 12.9 PS.

I feel FZ25 should've been the new FZ16-FI but delayed by 2 years.

      Good enough 21PS with 20Nm @6000rpm

Wet-Weight is 148kgs so Dry-Weight should be 138-140 kgs. (correct me if I'm wrong)

      FZ25 torque rating is better than Apache 200 which produces 18.1Nm @7000rpm, NS200 18.30Nm @8000rpm and Duke200 19.2Nm @8000rpm.

This translates to good low-end torque and good acceleration due to low weight, should be a hoot to ride in city I guess.

So finally by seeing on paper FZ25 is for someone who is looking beyond TVS, Bajaj and KTM brands and wants a street-bike having good low-end torque which also does the occasional highway rides under good service support of Yamaha without breaking the bank.

PS- FZ25 is relatively Rs.36k costlier than FZ16-FI when compared with ex-Delhi prices. Which is good not killer. Cheers!

        +1

According to me good low-end and mid-range is much more better than peaky power delivery for 95% of riding conditions.

Will have to take a test ride and then only decide whether or not it is a worthy upgrade for city/touring.
The design and specs didn't raise any eyebrows to be honest. It is very similar to the earlier spy pics... so no surprises there.
I never really liked the design for MT series to be honest but i like Fazer.

          The pricing is welcomed.
Frankly i was more interested in knowing if it was a combined launch for FZ & V3
ABS as an option would have been a cherry on top.

I think that a better mix of colors could have easily improved the looks

          Cheers.

Most of the people here will notice 2bhp less power but very less will notice that its engine produces 2nm more torque than apache200 and ns200 and that too at 6000rpm which means much better low-end punch and mid-range without using shorter gearing. I am sure it will cruise happily at 100-110 kmph @ 6000rpm.

People complaining about bhp, abs, liquid cooling, 6 gears, 4 valves etc etc. Look at the price ppl its 1.19 only. We have 250cc fuel injected quality bike from yamaha with proven and simple engine which will be easy on pocket to maintain and own.

A Bike just launched few hours back and people already started criticising, let the bike come into market and let future owners decide is it worthy or not.

According to me a good quality bike at this price bracket. People are comparing apache but when TVS will launch FI version.

glad yamaha got the price right

as for ppl complaining, it was all well known before launch, wasnt it? it would ve been bad if yamaha launched this bike at 1.5 lac just cause its yamaha. but they didnt.

vs its closest competitor apache, it has more torque, more cc, same power and weight and also fuel injection. so a price hike of 20k is justified no?

and its yamaha which traditionally are more expensive.

now real question is this or dominar?

Its the 2005 YS Fazer 250, slightly detuned to give better fuel economy. Bike has been on sale in Brazil for a good 12 years.
Apparently the only way to sell competitively priced bikes in this country is by selling old products from other countries or by partnering with foreign manufacturers who will do 80% of your R&D work for you.

This bike will do what the ZMA did for years and what the ZMR failed to do over the last few years. Its a good replacement to the ugly ZMR Hero launched 2 years ago.

Fuel injected apache 200 is retailing for Rs107000/- which makes yamaha fz25 only Rs12500/- expensive when compared to apache fi which is completely justified considering yamaha handling and quality it comes with. It will give good fight to soon to be launched 200ns fi which will carry premium of atleast Rs10000/- over older model.
