May be you are right but it will beat duke, p200 and apache 200 in top speed testOriginally posted by kannanmr16 View Postsigpic

FZ25 has more torque at low rpm compared to all the bikes you have mentioned.peak 20nm@6k rpm itself. Comparing that to the following bikes.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostMay be you are right but it will beat duke, p200 and apache 200 in top speed test
Apache 200v - 18.1nm@7000 rpm
RS200 - 18.6@8000rpm
Duke 200 - 19@8000rpm. Hence I mentioned that it is more tuned towards torque than for high speeds.

That I know but you know karizma and pulsar 180 were same on power i.e. 17 bhp but still karizma use to beat p180 in top speed just because of extra torque and long stroke engine... Same will be tha case with fz25 and apache200/p200Originally posted by kannanmr16 View PostFZ25 has more torque at low rpm compared to all the bikes you have mentioned.peak 20nm@6k rpm itself. Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
Certainly. But in a naked street fighter we all need good low-end grunt. To start quickly and accelerate during traffic signals and roll-on, torque in lower revs is ideal. So in paper FZ25 will be good in this area compared to the competition.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostThat I know but you know karizma and pulsar 180 were same on power i.e. 17 bhp but still karizma use to beat p180 in top speed just because of extra torque and long stroke engine... For Street Fighters we must never really care about top speed because after 100/120kmph wind blast will wear us out.

If it can hold 100-110 cruising speed for longer duration, I would seriously consider this. I don't intend to use it like a racing machine. A bike that handles city traffic comfortably and has enough power for occasional long tours is good for me!

Mr sree@mumbai, you were banned for a valid reason but you've taken personal vendetta to a new level (by creating a new account). You're permanently banned from the forum now. @sunilg, @The Monk - please note!Originally posted by NAVEEN1985_CHU View Postlets wait for powerdrift review...apache will beat yami with its bhp..also we need to consider weight of this bike...Got a $5 head? Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
fz25 is 250 cc. apparently cc do have its advantage. and torque too. cause cbr beats duke 200 despite being some 25 kg heavier. fz25 is lighter than cbr by some 15 kg. so i am expecting performance in same ballpark.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostThat I know but you know karizma and pulsar 180 were same on power i.e. 17 bhp but still karizma use to beat p180 in top speed just because of extra torque and long stroke engine... besides i dont see point of splitting engine performance based on couple bhps or. half second faster 0-100 timings. it should be in same class. thats what matters. on riding alone, it should give same sensation of power as duke 200 does and that will be fine. looking at youtube videos, it seems to be the case.
also dominar specs dont seem much on paper, it is quite fast bike as far as engine performance is concerned when you ride it.
why is he banned? he used to offer good entertainment. though his new username is a bit extreme.Originally posted by NAVEEN1985_CHU View Postlets wait for powerdrift review...apache will beat yami with its bhp..also we need to consider weight of this bike...
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
engine is sounding gruff in videos. bike definitely has some character. yamaha has stuck with this engine for long. must be something right about it.
this bike has potential to be a classic like yamaha rx series

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
I think the FZ25 as a product is a good idea. Although the YZF R3 was a pure genius product, probably marred by its price (which was no wrong, but wasn't mass market), lack of marketing and maybe lack of dealer enthusiasm.
This FZ25 could be the true showroom flagship for some time, something which is actually a premium yet practical product, and affordable enough to actually be seen on roads. So, FZ25 will fill in a gap well.
Although, I do believe it could've come earlier when the CBR 250R was gathering customers, but none the less, its not too late to the party anyhow.
They differed a lot in gearing too.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostThat I know but you know karizma and pulsar 180 were same on power i.e. 17 bhp but still karizma use to beat p180 in top speed just because of extra torque and long stroke engine... Karizma's 5th was like, really tall. Its overall gearing was strange too, 3 short, than a big gap for the next 2 tall gears. Probably, this happened when the source engine, Honda CRF 230's 6 speed gearbox was reduced to 5 gears by Hero Honda (back then).
P180 was still short-geared than Karizma, talking only about the 5th gears of both bikes.
Technically, a torquey engine doesn't help in top speed as such, if the power figure is not high enough. You can regear it to any speed you want, but if it doesn't have power, it won't accelerate hard enough.
For example, a Royal Enfield 350 engine can't be overgeared to match a Duke 390 in top speed, because the RE won't accelerate strong enough, due to lesser peak power... but we all know, RE leads in torque spread over the rpm range.
