QQ, is this having a full plastic casing on the tank, or the top part is metal and side panels are plastic?
Was anything announced about availability?

yamaha r15 is also selling in India since 2008 with virtually same engine. it was an old engine back then taken from a naked bike (forgot the details). to this date its a gem of a engine.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostIts the 2005 YS Fazer 250, slightly detuned to give better fuel economy. Bike has been on sale in Brazil for a good 12 years.
Apparently the only way to sell competitively priced bikes in this country is by selling old products from other countries or by partnering with foreign manufacturers who will do 80% of your R&D work for you.
This bike will do what the ZMA did for years and what the ZMR failed to do over the last few years. Its a good replacement to the ugly ZMR Hero launched 2 years ago.
in fact i consider it a good thing its a proven engine. will turn out to be reliable.
i expect this to beat zma in handling and power. if honda launches hornet 250 similar in handling to 160 then that will be intereting.
ot, i read a report ns will be carburetted in India. may be false cause its not official.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostFuel injected apache 200 is retailing for Rs107000/- which makes yamaha fz25 only Rs12500/- expensive when compared to apache fi which is completely justified considering yamaha handling and quality it comes with. It will give good fight to soon to be launched 200ns fi which will carry premium of atleast Rs10000/- over older model.

IIRC yes, but not in India.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostApache 200 fi launched/available?
for what it is, the pricing seems good and i am surprised! but it's positioning (wrt specs/performance) in today's market here in India seems a little awkward.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postyamaha r15 is also selling in India since 2008 with virtually same engine. it was an old engine back then taken from a naked bike (forgot the details). to this date its a gem of a engine.

Am sure this is a well tested/run motor that's been around for a while now, but will it be a success here in India..?
Let's see how our market and potential buyers take to it considering the various other options available to them.
Would they spend close to 1.4L (on road) for a 20bhp machine.. only time will tell how their sales shape up.
From what i've seen our market seems to prefer a combination of powerful, cheap ,fuel efficient bikes.. you throw in something that swings a bit either way and they don't sell many numbers

dunno about others but this and dominar are short listed by me.Originally posted by s1d View PostIIRC yes, but not in India.

agreed its sad yamaha did not consider a 400 cc at 2.5 lac, made in India, or start making r3 in India. i would ve definitely bought them.
for what it is, its a great package. duke 200 is some 30k more than this. chances are both will be close in power. then this is made by yamaha and is equal in quality.

Yamaha fz's engine will be much more refined and relaxed in comparison to duke with equivalent top speed as well...Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postdunno about others but this and dominar are short listed by me.

that's what i mean.. it puts the customer in a dilemma with the other options in the market.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postdunno about others but this and dominar are short listed by me.

the d200 has similar torque but a +4 bhp bump in power and lighter in weight. fz25 might not beat it in outright performance but would be a more 'relaxed' bike to ride.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
Duke's engine makes its peak torque i.e. 19nm at very high 8000 rpm whereas fz's engine produces 20nm at 6000rpm. Duke's engine accelerates quickly due to short gearing where as fz's engine will use its torque for good acceleration which can make it equivalent or marginally slower in 0-100kmph figures.Originally posted by s1d View Postthat's what i mean.. it puts the customer in a dilemma with the other options in the market.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
I like the machine, the looks seems to be rightly sculpted. Yamaha is known for its uniqueness when it comes to look. And I am happy now full LED is being used. FI is another good advantage. Also the 14litres Tank would be good for touring point of view. The upright touring conditions would be an advantage for long rides on this machine. 20.6bhp is good as per the India scenario, and I am sure this will be a mile muncher.
Would definitely want to test ride her and see what she has to offer.
I am not sure why others are cribbing about oil cooled engine, so less bhp and all. Well everyone has their own perspective, but as per me this FZ - 25 would be a perfect machine. And yes now since this engine of 250cc is here with Yamaha, they will sure bring other products. My wish in this case is XT 250 Lander, wish it comes to our shores, then I am going for it for sure.
