Look at the prices of the existing bikes from Yamaha..
I would be surprised if the on-road price is less than 1.4L !
    1. Naked
    2. Oil cooled and not liquid cooled so les complications
    3. Existing FZ chassis from what I understand
    4. Existing engine from Fazer 250 in the Brazil market hence not an extensive RnD required

Let's see what they have for the Indian bike enthusiasts..

Anything greater than 1.2 OTR is going to kilthe sales already
    Splendor - 2k to 2006
    Karizma - 2k3 to 2009
    P180 - 2k6 to 2k9
Hunk - Oct 2k7 til now
    ZMR - 2010 to Forever
    RX135(2k) - 2013 to 2018
    Ninja 250R (2010) - 2016 til now
    RayZ - 2015 til now
    Ninja 650 (2014) - 2017 til now

1.4 lac on road is roughly 1.2 lac ex showroom. that is actually is fair price for it. rtr200 Fi model is around 1.1-1.2 lac and this one being more cc, power and torque justifies it quiet well.

market dynamics have changed quite a bit after dominar. yamaha has to price it under 1.3 lac ex showroom or ppl will not take it seriously.

also to note, dominar is basically 1.5 lac ex showroom. non abs model is simply not viable on that bike as i found out during test ride. its high weight coupled with high power means my mind already too preoccupied with managing lot of things. don't want to worry about how much brake i am using after that. that problem wont be there with 250 cc buke weighing about 150 kg as expected.

Yep, its'a fibre surface tank just like FZ's & NS200. The fibre panels will be bolted above the actual tank (which is concealed beneath and ugly)

The reason for this is, manufacturing more aerodynamic or complex shapes within a single continuous shape of metal costs more money. So they make & join fibre pieces, which are cheap, easy & light to make into any shape (sharp, muscular & good looking from outside)

I agree abs is a good safety net. But the part in bold above doesn't sound right.
You should practice correct braking technique first and not assume abs will save your butt.

And for chaps expecting a price less than 1.4.. sweet dreams! The best could be a lower 'intro' pricing but i doubt even that would be as low as some folks are expecting. My guesstimate is it will be close to 1.6L (giving the current duke 200 a run for its money)

I see a lot of discussion regarding ABS in various thread.Come Apr 2018 all vehicles above 125cc has to be with ABS so even if some new model doesn't bring ABS at this point expect to see it by the end of this year

bikes more powerful than typical 250 cc bikes like dominar should always come with abs. its my personal opinion. seeing how quickly it becomes a handful. below 250 cc like cbr250r i can manage fine without abs.

also why close to 1.6 lacs when i can have cbr which is quite a bit better with liquid cooling for slightly more? yamaha would do well if it try to compete with dominar instead of duke.

If it's 200cc then a price close to 1.2-1.3 OTR is a must. If it's a 250cc then around 1.5L is reasonable right? Lesser than the CBR. Of course, shouldn't compare prices with Bajaj as it's a completely different league
