    Vaibhav Pisal don't expect Japanese reliability from Bajaj bikes. CBR 6 year old 250 engine can keep up with a 400 cc Bajaj engine in 0-100 means exactly what people think.

    @fullmoon, can you give us the source of your information wherein you mentioned Dominar 400 has an indigenous engine?
    It has been mentioned during its launch in dealership. [MENTION=58594]leech[/MENTION] ... we are not going for racing.. it's touring... if dominar can hold 100 -120 kmph comfortably for long hours ... then dominar also would be good for touring. Even there are cars designed with sohc engines. And you tell me, on what basis many of us are mentioning this engine is the same from Duke 390?

      Almost all the websites mention thus. I haven't come across a single article stating Bajaj developed a 373cc engine all by itself.

      There are cars with OHC, SOHC, and DOHC. The technology is different and progressive, most people would agree that a DOHC performs better than a similar engine with SOHC. SOHC has advantage of less production and maintenance costs.


      The reason the Dominar engine weighs more than the KTM 390 one is because Bajaj used less expensive, heavier materials to make it. There is no contradiction here, the engine design is the same, just the material used in construction is different and less expensive.

      The Bonda 250 engine which everyone calls old won many patents and awards on launch. It would be interesting to see how many awards the Dominar wins for this engine.

          [MENTION=58594]leech[/MENTION],bonda engine? yes honda gives us old bondas. I accept that honda refinement and long term reliability is good and dominar would not match it. I am an ex-pulsar user and using honda cb unicorn for last 4 years.I hope it will serve even more with the same honda reliability. Even though Dominor could not win awards like 250, it would be suitable for touring at reasonable speeds and even would be good for 4 or 5 years/ 50000 kms. Many of us are upgrading bikes every three or four years, in that case dominar won't a bad choice for those who can afford it. CBR 250 r with ABS is a good bike,but it is out of my budget.

              That's true. Bajaj is giving us a good package that's hard to beat. I personally use the pulsar 220 brake pads in my bike and I find them vfm.

                I don't think anybody except chinese companies can think of making a 400cc liquid cooled engine with fuel injection at this price.

                  Basically it uses a new engine not the same as KTM's 390..

                  I don't understand "Bajaj developed a 373cc engine" why didn't they develop a 500cc engine or a 300cc engine.. why particularly 373cc engine which is the same as the KTM's engine..

                    Just to save some part of R&D cost and some money because of part sharing with duke 390

                        [MENTION=58594]leech[/MENTION],now i saw that ktm duke390 has dry weight of 149 kg coupled with fuel it would come around 157 kg compared to kerb weight of Dominar that is 182 kg. So Duke 390 is 25 kg lighter. but engine feel is totally different in Dominar compared to ktm 390

                              I this is perfect bike has all necessary technical requirements fulfilled such as ABS,SLIPPER CLUCH,LED LIGHTS,FI ETC, but one fellow has shown his dissatisfaction with regard to sitting position, sitting position is not comfortable as advised.

                                A Single cylinder 690cc or a 1290cc V twin engine..

                                Provided, if KTM launches the Duke 690 and Super Duke 1290 in India

                                For long rides, D400 will be comfortable.. no doubt.. it has a well padded (foam) seat for both the pillion and the rider.. and I am quite sure it can do 120 kmph all day.. Only thing I am concerned about is how the engine will sound after riding continuously for say 200 kms without a halt.. The old pulsars make horrible noise
