TVS tends to arrive at these figures with heavier than average riders. This could just be a tactic to make promises they can keep (instead of advertising quick numbers only to be discovered later as "false" by disappointed buyers).
Being a short stroke engine, the performance is great throughout the rev range, but it comes with the caveat that performance drops rapidly as you increase the weight/load or ride uphill (like a heavy built rider, or extra luggage). The opposite is true for the long stroke (under square) engines typically seen in bobbers and cruisers such as the REs that are not designed to go fast. Because of the huge torque, here is no significant drop in performance when you add unreasonable amount of weight to the motorcycle or when you're riding in a steep uphill incline.

Totally agreed with ur point!!... Powerdrift already shown the vbox no. & As far as motorbeam video is concerned they just simply posted the TVS claimed timings & titled the video as 0-100kmph test speed....Originally posted by tirebuster View PostTVS tends to arrive at these figures with heavier than average riders. Re: TVS Apache RR310 Launched at 2.05 Lakh Ex-Showroom!
Exactly. It is possible that they used the official figures instead of using a handheld timer and doing an honest test.Originally posted by tanishq View PostTotally agreed with ur point!!... If there are any skinnier folks here (60 Kg or under) that are getting the bike, please post your 0-60, 0-100 times here. I'm sure it'll be faster than even the aggressive Powerdrift figures of 6+ seconds. That's one of the things with short stroke engines. Any reduction in weight will translate to significant performance gain.
So if you're into drag racing on a track (not road racing) and if you really watch your weight, I feel that with this bike, you could take on a KTM RC 390 in a drag race. You need to carefully size-up the Duke 390 rider and ONLY RACE HIM IF the person looks about 15 - 20 Kgs heavier than you. That extra weight should even out the power advantage the 390 has over the RR 310. Again, it's just the way these short strokes work. Weight really matters when you're looking to close gaps in performance figures - for ex. in a race situation.Last edited by tirebuster; 12-13-2017, 10:26 PM.

Just wait for the Powerdrift road review everything will be clear!! As far as motorbeam timings are concerned they are pros in giving out misleading info to there viewers & when someone confront abt there authenticity of there video they just start making excuses. Like in this video....Originally posted by tirebuster View PostExactly. It is possible that they used the official figures instead of using a handheld timer and doing an honest test.

Went to Hare Krishna TVS yesterday. They said they have around 25 bookings only so far and they are quoting 90 days waiting period as even they don't how many bikes are being allotted to them. The good thing is 5000 booking amount is fully refundable. Being the only dealer in Mumbai, I think they will allotted more bikes !

While in Chennai, I used to go to the MMSC (back then it was called the MMRT (or) Irungattukottai Race Track) with friends. We raced our sub 200cc motorcycles there. I've also seen drag races on an under-construction unused link road between ECR and OMR (in 2007-08). Now the road is in full-fledged use.
If you're in Chennai, join them: http://www.madrasmotorsports.in/memb...ent=Membership
It is an old track, 50+ years old to be precise, but it is also the birthplace of India's Motorsport. This race track gave us three F1 drivers and many F3 drivers.
The membership ID used to be a very basic laminated ID card in 2007-08 when I last went there, not sure if they're doing anything fancy now. Just call them and find out about track days for members when you can do laps with your own bikes.
You just need to look around. You'll find safe places to race.
Update:
Now, the MMRT / MMSC has designated track days for everyone (not just members). They will also rent you the motorcycles you want.

sure but drag races on under-construction unused roads is not really drag racing on tracks no? Truth is there are no drag trips in India or at least I am not aware of it.Originally posted by tirebuster View PostWhile in Chennai, I used to go to the MMSC (back then it was called the MMRT (or) Irungattukottai Race Track) with friends. And if there are or crop up in future then no one will buy 300cc single for drag racing.Someone who is into it will shop around for something bigger with heaps of torque. May be buy a used beat up big bike and then spend money on extending the swing arm etc.
I understand you can have heaps of fun on a small bike on a track but a drag strip is totally different..The hero always RIDES into the sunset!

1. I do not endorse racing on the highway - no matter how empty, or completely unused. I mentioned that I saw people doing it.
2. India is still a very poor country where a vast majority of the population still considers a 150cc motorcycle premium. So Im not going to comment on the tangential discussion about whether or not 300 cc will be popular for drag racing vs. people buying it vs. other things of that nature.
3. If dedicated Drag Strips are what you're looking for India has NONE that I know of. It does have race tracks with long straight stretches good enough for drag racing. I went to the track to do laps. Circuit racing. We did have the occasional drag races on track to determine the best 0 - 100 times of motorcycles of various makes.
The amount of fun depends on the rider. You asked me a question, I answered. Gave you some options available in India for drag racing. I don't want to get dragged into these useless beating-the-dead-horse discussions about which tracks are better and which engines are great for drag racing etc.
