  • At least I'm happy for the closed chain. You really need to experience the pain of having a open chain to appreciate a closed one. I'm afraid of taking my 15 on to roads when it is raining. I have to shell 100 bucks every week or so to keep the drive train running smooth.

    Well now about the ZMR:

I was about to cry after seeing the pics and specs. I don't know why? Angry myself ? Angry on HH? Is this all we get? Don't we deserve more ?

    • Giving it a close look, the bike does look good to me ... no doubt but I would have wished HH to go for better, fatter tyres and a decent increase in power. After all you have just made the bike many grands costlier so justify the price. But I would not be too surprised if HH cut back on proce at later stage by some 9 - 10 K like they did with the original ZMA coz I dont think it will sell decently with that price tag .. specially once the novelty factor withers off.

Of course you can't.. least you want to get an infraction from the mods.

            • HH already have 150 cc bikes producing some 14 PS or so ... quite efficient engines I would say and that too without that FI. So how on earth they launch a flagship model that with all the technology put into it produces a highly inefficient 17.6 PS from a 223 cc engine. It has to be 20 something or else HH have missed the bigger picture completely. I know how their R&D works ... but their common-sense? is it like their R&D too? totally dependant on feedback from Honda? I would like to think better for the biggest producer of bikes in world.

                  • Personally, the bike looks ok. Its definitely not a "piece-of-art", but its not quite as badly packaged as the Bindi-sporting CBZ-X. IMHo, I might add.

I am sure the engine will be reliable and torquey - like the old ZMA. In fact, it would appear from the unofficial specs posted, that the engine has just been tweaked a wee bit. Thus I expect the engine characteristics to be the same, virtually.

From the Co's perspective, they had a very reliable mechanical pkg but an aged design so I guess they have just repackaged it into some kind of a randomly picked design. Clearly, it shows the lack of creativity in their dept. Thankfully its not entirely FUGLY IMO. Its "just about acceptable" to me.

I think the move to entirely digital instrumentatioin is very good. I am not really convinced about the oil cooling but I guess its something that will need to be researched once the first lot owners start to post their experiences here.

Are the engine specs a let down ? I think so, but maybe they decided to trade off engine performance against other things like the fairing, digital instrumentation and other incremental improvements. Logically though, they should have made this a 20PS bike at least. 1Ps improvement is nothing but mocking the consumers. Very bad.

Will existing ZMA owners ugrade to the latest version ? On the evidence of what has been posted here - which is still not really official info, especially the specs, - I don't think there is much logic in upgrading your ZMA-R to a ZMR, unless you feel captivated by the ZMR's looks - which is rather unlikely.

BUT - I think the bike should get its fair due - let is be thrashed around a few times by Bike Magazines and let the owners post their experiences; who knows ? maybe its a suprise package ? But I am NOT really having high hopes for this bike.

HH bikes look better in flesh than in pictures. Remember CBZ extreme? It looked better in flesh than pics.

I hope i dont have to regret getting my 3month old ZMA R Which I think i wont anyhow
