Agree with Anirudh one all the points. But there is also the comparision thing that we do. If the scenarios explained by anirudh are GENERALIZED there are many othe similar cases like that and people crib about it.
Eg: HH using the 97.5cc engine in bikes like splendour, passion, NXG, joy, dawn, blah blah...but many still crib about it! Right? and similary the Unicorn engine family! Same goes to Yamaha's approach to FZ with its variants of FZ-S and FAZER!!! They have different class of customers, of course guys at Yamaha arent blindly launhing their products.

Bajaj has all rights to use the way they want to use PULSAR as brand name...They can re-brand all their product lineup from right from 100cc to 220cc. Hope at least this >150cc bike has better life when compared to its siblings.
True that guyz at Yamaha, Bajaj, HH are having knowledgable people!! but they cant predict future or customer reation.

at end, its almost impossible to satisy every one, one them has to suffer!

And its not just changing cc , Bajaj try their very best to give what they can , not unlike yamaha and honda who have so much expertise and experience and who can give us much better but still dont want to . Specially honda , very laid back attitude these guys have. Bajaj are bringing changes for the better wherever they can , for eg : the DC electricals which is not much talked about is a v good n useful thing .
Yeah bajaj seems to rush things but they dont hesitate to rectify it . All companies have something which people blame for it for years .
Like even if bajaj makes some highly reliable engine , people would take years to realize it . But way to go for bajaj to achieve that .

But one thing no one can deny is it is bajaj that has still kept market on toes and kept the sense of competition alive . Otherwise it was same freaking boring as always.

Just for the comparison's sake and clear your mind I am going to compare the latest p150 with the heaviest in the Yamaha Fz series, the Fazer. Fazer (with that big semi fairing) have a kerb weight of 141kgs which is 2 kgs less than the p150 at 143kgs, and Fazer makes 14ps of power while p150 does unnoticeably better with 14.09ps! You can check their respective websites. None in Fz series is underpowered! lol. Praise worthy of the fact that fz series still have the fattest front forks among Indian bikes and the tyres too. And it shows in it's ride quality which is lacking in pulsar.

Now, as a you have already said about the looks! the Fz series have, in every practical sense, better components than the bajaj. Be it chassis, suspension, handling, smoothness, gearbox etc. Bajaj, being an arrogant manufacturer and with lack of racing experience, will never better the japs when it comes to delivering a fine balance of chassis and suspension, these being among the key ingredients to deliver a good ride quality. P220s handling limitations against the competition are an example of this!! If bajaj continues to behave like this, then without foreign assistance, they will never make a better product on their own against what japs have and will have for India! However, they will keep making up for it by keeping the costs lesser than the competition, and it works with many as we can see. Think about why Honda Unicorn, being considered outdated and boring, is still better at handling, cornering and stability!!

And yes, I for one will pay more price for Yamaha!

FYI-I myself own a yam , But im no brand loyalist .
And my comparison was clearly to do with " Looks sell in india" .
For the price of an fz or a fazer id rather get a 220 or a zma. Its more practical for the price.zma gives the same milage as the fz with more power n torque.
IMHO,no doubt Fazer has the best looks in town.

Ppl from Yamaha and the dealers themselves accept the fact that FZ is an all show and no go bike .All that matters is the numbers sold @ the end of the day.

Howmuch ever u criticise Bajaj , its the numbers that matter to them , no your expertise , They are selling , selling well, all by themselves and not Japs help.

wow, this is news to me!! when did Yamaha said that about it's own product!! may be they gave you a call!!

And yes I know that bajaj wouldn't give sh*t about my "expertise" and they can very well continue to sell in biiiiiig numbers. But as I said, they will never make a better product than the japs, for the reasons I wrote in my previous post. And yes, the japs might very well not care about that too!

PS: I own a Bullet Electra, so even I am not brand loyalist
