      • @ Crazy NJ : Pathetic ???

Would you help me understand what is pathetic in that bike, or is it just a typical pulsar-bhashing club's outburst.

          • My only disappointment is why is Bajaj bringing out all the lower cc's as pulsars?? As already seen Pulsars are so common and by this it's gonna be even more!!

Totally agree! I really don't think that the bike looks bad! It's a bold design, apart for the rear tyre hugger the bike looks good.....wts wrong with naming a 135 cc bike a pulsar? The company wants to cash in on the goodwill of their pulsar brand and as the pulsar series has always been a successful outing for Bajaj I guess thts why the nomenclature........... Think of it as an opportunity for the people and the masses who always wanted a pulsar but couldn't afford to buy anything above a 125cc bike.

I never got this "commonness crib", if there is a bike which is good then how can one decide not to buy just because it is common. If that's the case then Activa could have been out of business as you find almost every other scooter an Activa.

I agree that they could have named it some other name, but they just wanted people to at least be receptive about this bike as they might have found hard to establish new brand name like XCD while discover did wonder even if they decreased the engine size.

So they names pulsar to get some attention otherwise how many of us discussing about TVS Jive

                • i guess what people are trying to say and myself included is that bajaj have taken the commonality concept a bit too far and in doing so have diluted the individual product characteristics and USP's of each of the models.

The most brutal being the 200 and 180 fiasco. And yes i am a 200 owner and i'm not in support of what they did.

However i do agree it made good strategic sense from the financial point of view.

Having said so, and saying it again... what would the reaction of car owners be, if say for example... BMW did the same thing and diluted the parts and styling of the 5 series straight to the 3 series??

Or Merc doing the same with the C class with everything from the E class..

i hope that gets the point across?

what bajaj should have done was to push through the improvements to the lower models but yet not touch the USP and styling of the premium bikes and dilute them while ignore the development of their upper end. Albeit they did indeed revamp the 220, but using the same improvements to the 200 in the parts bin would surely have made a case for the 200 to be cheaper too and therefore cost effective.. and then ofcourse the 180 in the same manner, without bringing up the 180 to everything the 200 offered and then just end the 200. Many agree that the 200 was the sweet spot between performance and VFM returns. The engine was its most potent weapon, frugal yet responsive and decent breathing room at the top end with smooth revs throughout the power band. What it sorely lacked was handling response and cornering stability but it was and is still one of the best cruisers in its class

ditto,i find it rather silly when people just say thet its common and doodhwala ,this that wala has the bike...let them have it dude...what matters is wether you have it or not and you are maintaining it better than others or not..if anyone wants to be exclusive tthey can always go for sbks

                    • I will give one example.

Somebody asks me 'what is your bike' and I say 'Karizma'. I can see in his face the 'wow' feeling immediately recognizing the 'big, powerful bike'.

Somebody asks me 'what is your bike' and I say 'Pulsar'. I can see confusion in his face, he would still be thinking which pulsar it is. You need to say mine is a P220, P200, or a P150, or a P135. I am loosing exclusivity here.

Strategically the move may be good by Bajaj, but a part of bikers would definitely want some exclusivity and they would not be happy with this move.

Guys, there is no brand war here. Just an example.

                        • You know sometimes I wonder.. in some years, when we'll have kids and they grow up, Bajaj will offer them an array of Pulsars to choose from.. starting from Pulsar 100 followed by 105, 110, 115 and this A.P. would go upto a maximum of 250. I'm eagerly waiting for the limited edition 237.59 cc engine!!

atleast it is better than an array of bikes with different stickers / colored paints.. and 237.59cc is better than a 'limited edition' dual-color rims

what i feel is atleast a customer has wide variety of bikes in a brand to choose from depending on his pocket...and every bike has some technical difference unlike the colours or body parts...like whats the difference between fz fzs and fazer in technical aspects??? all are the same and look at the price range...
