The fact is that many of us are here waiting for an upgrade to a 250 cc bike which is from honda or yamaha . But they are not recognising this.
Infact many selected P 220 were able to afford a bike priced around 1.3-1.5 L bike but they went for P 220 bcz there are no other options and the later seems to be vlaue for money. I am pretty sure that many of the new P 220 owners would have think twice if there was a honda or yamaha 250 cc present below 1.5 L . bUt hONDA OR YAMAHA fail to recognise these potential customers.

Now the scenario is that between P 220 and Ninja there is not bike .
(Both of these are provided by Bajaj) . See how Bajaj do their moves intelligently . Talking about yamaha till they launch Fz16 and r15 they were too afraid to take brave and bold moves. They were trying to imitate HH tuning thier bikes for mileage. Result After Rx series no other bike succeded in making an impact. Later they realized their msitake and intorduced FZ16 and R 15 and it was a bold step in the correct direction and they are regaigning some percentages in two wheeler market.
If honda fail to take bold steps i am sure they will be left behind the scene and will be pushed the last position (after HH , Bajaj , TVS , yamaha) .

Wake up Honda , Show us what you have , Explore the unexplored area (80 K - 3 L ) in indian Two wheeler . Create a new class of two wheelers.

When 100ccs are ruling indian market Bajaj took the bold step and intorduced Pulsor 150 (later 180) (even though there were other 150 cc avialble from HH cbz falied to sell in mass numbers despite being a good bike) and It clicked . Learn from Bajaj in knowign customers mind . Take the initiative .

honda and yammi have the technology and potential but they falied to know what customers really want .
Bajaj really well know what customers want but they dont have the strong techinical back ground of HOnda or yamah to produce as relaible bikes as them . When will these two sides meet ?
i totally agree with u there ......infact honda has been my fav too and i had been waiting (for the last 10 years or so !) in the hope that some day they will introduce a proper 250 ,i wud have been the first to go ahead n book it alas bajaj beat them to it and now they have opened up the flood gates for guys like me who have been starving real bad n cant hold back any longer . YES i booked the ninja n am awaiting delievery .One down so many more to go (PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER i mean ) ....WAKE UP honda n yamaha n suzuki ...india is catching up to the rest of the world ...KEEP PACE !!!
"It's impossible." said pride. "It's risky." said experience. "It's
pointless." said reason. "Give it a try." whispered the heart ....

          I think your Right.....

Honda has setup in mind that the Indian market is only for Commuters - and they are not gonna mind about the 200 - 600 Segment at all in India....
If they would have then CBR and CB are here in INDIA - why not the other bikes also????

          • I believe we are just wasting server space. Honda will probably be the last company to launch a 250 in India. Till then I would say just lock this thread.

the setup honda has in mind is almost correct...India is a commuter market.

just because a few percent consumers want a 250cc they will not launch it...it will not be profitable.

if u want a 2500cc go for Ninja.

              • Unicorn engine in CB Twister Avatar? That is what I thought when I saw the initial CB Twister pics. It would be a killer if the Unicorn comes like this.

Seeing a honda bike with a 160-200 cc does not mean Honda is not going to Launch a 250cc. Remember, recently HOnda said they are launching two products in the category of 135-250cc. I strongly believe one product is a sporty Unicorn and the other is a 250 cc.

                • from the posts ,i may understand, members are seeing dreams with open eyes and in bright day light.whatever we see on the road in the areas of these factories,we assume that a higher power bike is there on the road.i know whole history of indian automobile industry in india.as a matter of favour to MR.SANJAY GANDHI,govt.of india allowed import of engines and cars, bikes, which may save fuel or fuel efficient engines.this provision was made 1984-85 and all these japanese companies came to india.at that time direct investment was not allowed, they have to work with any indian co.so joint ventures were formed and 100cc bikes came to india.earlier to that we were with vijai-super,bajaj scooter and rajdoot and java motorcycles.MY MAIN POINT IS RULERS ARE NOT CHANGED,THEY ARE THE SAME PEOPLE IN GOVT.THEIR POLICIES ARE THE SAME OLD ONES.UNLESS OTHERWISE GOVT. CHANGES POLICIES AT GOVT,WE WILL HAVE TO BEAR WITH THESE 100 TO 150CC BIKES.BIKE MAKERS HAVE THEIR ASSOCIATIONS,THEY HAVE MONEY POWER SO, THEY WILL NOT ALLOW NEW PLAYERS TO COME TO INDIA WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES..WE HAVE TO VOICE OUR CONCERN ABOUT DUTIES TO BE REDUCED AND MONOPOLY OF THESE BIKE MAKER MUST END.i will say yamaha india has done a good job but their fault is fatter tyre at the rear in their fz series.average of these bike is not upto mark.this much fatter tyre is useless.yamaha india announced bike launch well in advance and they kept their promises.

                    • stop these useless speculations. let honda declare something for sure then go around it like nuts. all these companies do not want take risks all they want is profit and thats all. thats why the cb twister came along wtf is honda thinking??? they say its inspired styling from the cbr 1000 and they go ahead and apply it on a commuter bike. at least yamaha go it right(r15).
a 250cc from honda??? it will take years. go for the ninja anyone who is waiting for a proper 250cc honda will never launch a multi-cylinder bike as of soon.

Though I agree to some of your points, what about the 220 cc bikes? Are'nt these fall above the category of 100-150cc? If Honda or Yam or Suzuki is not going to bring the 250cc, Bajaj and TVS will bring them sure in the near future and eventually other Japs will follow them.

                          • Bibhu, things will change and never be same always. This is the time for a 250cc, and manufacturers are definitely eyeing on this segment at 1.5-1.75 lac range, and eventually it will come in an year or two for sure.

The segment of mileage bikes will change only superficially and morphologically, and manufacturers cannot do anything else, because they are for mileage. For this you cannot blame a Honda, Hero HOnda, yamaha for updating the bikes with same engines. They do need to do something to make them attractive to the customer in the competitive world, so expect only minor look-upgradation for all the mileage bikes.

Things will not radically change in Indian motor industry and it takes time for expansion. I am sure the time has come now.

                            • I hate these speculations and kms of precious words by my fellow members. I shall suggest doing what we do best.

3)Thou shalt respect one's own bike.
4)Love thy bike as thy self.
                              5)Always wear safety gear.
                              6)Alcohol is a strict NO!
7)Thou may lust after thy neighbour's bike specially if its of the R1 kind!
8)Thou shalt ride with 'ultra-most' care and caution when on Indian roads.
9)Thou shalt never leave the engine running at long traffic halts.

I never blame them man. We have to accept the fact that they are here as business enterprises . they are here to make profit and not to provide sport to us handful of bikers and enthusiasts. Yamaha tried once with the RD and failed. Still, for all our sake I whole heartedly hope you are right.
