@strider: Actually my reply is very late...
I read your story in the 3rd XBHP Mag issue itself and I'm really happy & excited to know abt a guy like you. One thing that immediately struck me when I saw ur story is that the poster of the R1 you have - thats exactly the same poster of the R1 I bought during 2003 and I still have it with me.
I wish you'd have the paper cutting that started all this journey of yours.

The Journey to 10000
The road to 10K has been interesting one, made some new friends, lost one, tried various foods, a random girl asked me out, saw some new places, did a Saddle Sore and so forth. If I can put this down in one word, it has to LEARNING.
From the riding perspective, I experienced so many things which I had only read about, counter steering, leaning, power band (2 stoke fans know this one better), and the most important of all; throttle control and vision.
There are so many forces acting on the motorcycle which seemed so negligible on my Pulsar (or any lesser CC variants) and are so darn evident on a multiple cylinder motorcycle; small things like a decrease in 3 to 4psi of tyre pressure is very evident to the rider, throttle a tad more and the motorcycle obliges by lifting the front wheel up, brake a bit hard and you can sense the rear locking up and many more; So much magnified on a litre-class motorcycle.
The Saddle Sore 1000 has been by far the most challenging ride, pushed my concentration levels to the limit and the fatigue of taming the 170bhp monster for 24 hours is unlike anything I have felt.
I came across people who think I am an invincible rider and just gave me way, then there are those who don’t miss a chance of squeezing their motorcycle in your way, who think that 'This rich kid has enough money, so why don’t I bring him down". But most of them are just curious to know this delightful creature and take pictures with it.
It feels nice when random school kids on the road look at your motorcycle than the pretty girl in their school; the smile on their face when I take a picture of them with the R1; when your kid neighbor comes up to you and says that 'I go for my swimming classes late on weekend mornings to wait to hear and see your R1'.
There are so many roads out there which call me, Rann of Kutch, Dhanualti, Lansdowne, NH-15,Kasara Ghat,Khalsedi Ghat, NH-17 (Karwar-Ankola), Valparai to Pollachi ghat and so many others.
As the saying goes "The road to nowhere never ends" and "The road to a friend's house or to a food-joint is never far".Last edited by strider; 09-13-2011, 04:52 PM.Hammer the racetrack. Pace yourself on the street.

My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Cool. Could I borrow your bike?Originally posted by strider View PostThe road to 10K has been interesting one.... a random girl asked me out
On a serious note, nice to see that you're putting theOne to good use rather than treating it like a coffee shop ornament like most people do.
Once again, wishing you many years of happy and safe rides with theOne.
Now that she has crossed the 10k mark isnt it time for some performance upgrades and add-on's? A growler would make her (and us) really happy.
ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!
